Would love to know more about the polyethylene that seems to be fairly common in cleansing balms! I know that it's a form of plastic, but am curious to know your opinion on the environmental impact, why it's in the formula, etc. I discovered your channel in 2019 and have been loving it ever since!! ❤️

Kenna, could you do a video about your opinion on essences? I've heard some people say that essences help increase the efficacy of the products you put on top of them, but some conversely state that essences don't really do much for the skin. I'm not sure if it's worth trying one out.

Trial and error with SD Alcohol on my skin has led to mixed results that I wasn't able to figure out on my own. @DF-wb2ln
@DF-wb2ln 4 жыл бұрын
Tenya Iida Arbuti. And vit c are considered safer. The old go to was hydroquinone which, while effective, can only be used for short periods And can cause photo sensitivity. With sun damage SPF is ur best friend otherwise ur just reversing anything u put on. I was just reading this thing a dermatologist write about Jan Marini luminate lotion as being “the best product I have seen for hyperpigmentation that does not contain hydroquinone “. Don’t quote me but I think it’s Arbutin. U can look it up online. They also sell Jan marini now at massage envy if u have one near you.

Hi Kenna, great video. This is sort of ingredient related - I’d love to know about the amount of any particular active ingredient (vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, resveritrol etc) in a product for it to actually be effective. So for example a product contains vitamin C but in such a tiny amount that it’s not actually any benefit to the skin. I’ve also been wondering about Drunk Elephant and whether their products really as as good as people say, and I’d love to know your opinion about Drunk Elephant’s owner saying that “your skincare is only as good as your worst product” and their advice to use 100% Drunk Elephant products otherwise you won’t get the full benefits of their products?!! Thanks!

I kind of agree with DE. Most brands have a synchronized system...all the products support each other and the formulas support each other. Kind of the same thing with makeup, it is usually best to use the brand's primer with their foundation (usually) and this is why you find that some primers work with some foundations but not others.
@DF-wb2ln
@DF-wb2ln 4 жыл бұрын
zahedah80 a general rule for vitamin c is look for l-ascorbic acid which is produced and can be absorbed by the body. Price will often reflect concentration. And as a rule of thumb in order for an effective amount of vit c to be stable it needs to be in an oil or paste (without water). So serums are good options. And if u see it in like a moisturizing cream or something it’s prob an ineffective amt of vit c. I use PCA c &e strength I forget but it says right on the package the amounts of vit c and e. You can get it online or at a local massage envy and save the shipping if you have one nearby. -licensed esthetician
@DF-wb2ln
@DF-wb2ln 4 жыл бұрын
And PS drunk elephant is pricey and basically just a retail brand. Some of my clients swear by it but I still see multiple issues in all of their skin. So def not a perfect system, or they need better education on how to use their products (I can’t know every product out there and do all the research for them in the short amt of time I have)
@zahedah80
@zahedah80 4 жыл бұрын
@@DF-wb2ln I wasnt saying that only DE was good. I was agreeing mostly that you get the most effective results when you use a system together whether or not it is DE or not.

Hey Kenna and comment section, I don't know if you have talked about this in other videos BUT I would like to know how more acidic or alkaline products affect the face. I'm specifically looking at "The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution" and it says the pH is 3.5-3.7 which worries me a little bit because I thought the facial skin has a pH of 4.5-5? Also, if the pH of your skin is off how would we know or fix the problem? Thank you for reading this!

While I understand the basic theory, I'm so confused about formulations of some of the products. For exaple, I've been eyeing The Body shop yogurt lotion (it's a light body lotion) and it's meant for dry skin, without being heavy. Denatured Alcohol is 3rd ingredient, right after water and glycerine, and if it's a drying ingredient, why do companies put it so high up in 'moisturizing' products? I've seen simmilar formulations in many different light-weight mousturizers. I understand alcohol is there for the texture, but why bother advertizing it as hydrating then?
