ABSOLUTELY! I’m about to turn 61 and this time last year I thought I was in need of knee replacement surgery. That said, I’ve redeveloped the muscles in my legs, including around the knee joints, and now they’re strong and free of pain.

Yes! I’m 64 and have been doing strength workouts for about 11 years. Rarely had knee pain. Then last March, I was sick and didn’t do workouts for six weeks. Suddenly, my right knee was sore and painful. I started working out again, also doing your knee pain exercises. It took another six weeks, but my knee is much better. I’m back to doing squats and lunges. Thanks for the great info!

I had an MRI, have no bone/meniscus problem but after Covid home for 3 years and little exercise punctuated by several surgeries that required me to be prone my hips, knees and legs et al are very weak. For the first time in my life I now have inner lower knee pain. It’s constant and I suspect due to my hips and overall weakness and maybe that extra 20 pounds I could lose. I’ve been looking through your past videos for some advice 🤍 appreciate you!

Hi! I had a knee surgery in both knees. I was at my first surgery 17 yeahrs old and the main surgery in my right knee was at the age of 19. My diagnosis called osteochondritis dissecans. The docs told me that i will have a knee replacement in my 30 yeahrs. Now i am 51 yeahrs with no replacement. I do daily squats and lunges. I train with kettlbells and stones. Not to heavy. The heaviest stone is 43 kg and the heaviest kettlebell is a 24kg bell. I do basic lifts and presses. I do lift and carry with the stones. And i do the turkish get up reverse as my favorite exercise with the kettlebell. I learned a lot by Steve Maxwell and had the pleasure in the past to enjoy him in person at 2 seminars here in germany. You share a great content in this channel. Thanks a lot for sharing, Matt. Take care.

@@Uprighthealth It is me a pleasure to see which way you show to people like me! Every doc told me in the past what i can not do with my problems! The knees are not the only problem. I had a disc hernation threated by surgery in 1992. And i had a lot of disc pronation after this surgery too. So i decided to be my own expert and look for the human foundations patterns like the squat or crawling. I enjoy one movenat seminar with Vic Verdier in Basel and this was amazing for me. I which you all the best and hope you have a great life in this live ;) You help more people with your channel than every doc i meet in my life!!!

Being sure to not push through pain is important. It ended up that my knee issue is secondary to other weaknesses. It takes patience to rebuild muscle and flexibility at 63. I can finally go up steps without sharp pain. I walk backwards on the treadmill and do hamstrings curls along with other glute exercises. Slow is Safe😊

I did and do 30 seconds -10 mins of exercise daily- slowly. After gardening or while waiting for kettle to boil etc. Even crawling on the floor backwards and forwards going down the passage to another toom instead of walking there. I do Arm swinging and raising arms. Standing on one leg and the rest. - throughout the day and evening. After 2 months of this, i do them all still, however, instead of once or twice each, i am doing double ir treble of each. I csn feel snd see my strength and flexibility building up. With your help, watching your videos, i know i will soon be really keeping up with you and doing extras that you suggest. I enjoy them all. Thank you

Hi Matt, I love your videos! I am 74 years young, a, yoga instructor to seniors, and I refer my students to your U-tube videos depending on their particular unresolved pains or joint issues! I currently have a student, who has a "floating knee-cap." Do you have anything they can do to stabilize it?? Their doctor is advising knee surgery!!!! YIKES! I have been following your videos to help with my own "hip impingement" issues! Slowly but surely things are beginning to change. I have to admit, I have not been consistent, but I do try to do a little "something" everyday! I had a bad fall prior to the pandemic...face planted on cement, split my lower lip, lost four top front teeth, and bruised my knee-cap...it was literally black/blue for several months! I was fine in the beginning, as my body was in good shape teaching yoga and strength training classes to seniors (four days per week)...until Covid-19 hit and we were on "lock-down"! Being "extremely limited" to do any type of exercise on a regular basis due to lack of space! ...I lost 50+% or more of my flexibility and strength and began having hip issues in my left leg, could not lift my left leg to get into a "walk-in shower"...and a right knee that tracked towards my mid-line? Long story short, I came across one of your videos ( "3-Easy Exercises to Increase Hip Mobility"and "How to Sleep If You Have Hip Pain")! I had to do SOMETHING...ANYTHING...to ease my pain! Long story short, I tell my students who have all sorts of issues to view your videos for whatever ails them because..."Life is Short and Pain Sucks!" - Namaste! Pat Shaw

Thank you for the timely advice. After retiring recently, my first attempt at bowling again after a 10 year break, was met with crippling knee and hip pain that lasted over a week. Surely, this is weakness from sitting 8-12 hours in a desk job for the past several years. It's going to take lots of remedial strength and flexibility training to gain the confidence to try again.

Perhaps you could share exercises related to cooking and being in the kitchen throughout life, and Derek can talk about delicious plant forward foods to nourish the body and spirit. Check him out if you can. Thank you for being accessible and kind

If you think you have an injury of some kind do you still exercise the knee? On the outside of my left knee is very painful when I massage it. Could I have torn ligaments and rest it to heal? Any deep flexion hurts.

I'm 56, & my left knee makes crunching exercises whenever I walk up stairs, get up from a chair, etc. Any situation where it has to start in a bent position and then straighten under my body weight. It's been doing this for years, but lately it sounds worse and is scaring me a little. Is there a particular exercise I should be doing? Squats for example? I can't do low squats because then the knee doesn't just make noise, it outright hurts.

I've been skateboarding for around a month now, and I'm starting to experience knee pain. At 27, I’m wondering if I’m too old to begin skating. While it feels like I'm healing my inner child, I'm concerned about causing long-term damage if I continue. Can knee exercises stop the pain or need to stop skateboarding altogether?

This is minor or maybe not compared to everyone else’s issues. When I kneel on the floor my knee caps HURT!!!! They don’t hurt as much with on a padded surface but still doesn’t feel right as when I was a kid. Is this normal. They also are quite bony looking 😜

On some level I know you are right, but doing flexibility exercises I see on youtube, even yours, make everything so much worse, and I have to quit. I haven't knelt on the ground, or squatted in decades, and I never could sit cross legged. Perhaps, doing things I don't need to is not worth the risk of injury. Say, "Hi!", to Bony for me.

Get a referral for an ortho doc and an MRI. Once you know it’s not a structural issue you can work with PT to resolve these things starting simple, like getting up and down into a chair. If you haven’t done a squat in many years of course it’s painful now. It takes time to build from that level of weakness and you can but see a doc and rule out bone and meniscus issues first.
