I own Westin Flex and I would never opt out of Abound. I like the flexibility of banking my staroptions. Thanks for all your videos Jeremy, I find them very informative.

Hi, thank you for your research. I’m a Vistana owner and I do bank a lot of my time. So, I was finally able to get on the website yesterday and under videos I did not find anything instrumental to help me with Abound. Also I finally got a call back from Vistana and the guy told me that I missed the deadline to bank into Abound. Which makes no sense because he said we had to bank 2023 points by Dec 2022. Which is crazy since the website has been down most of the time and they never warned us by email. They have not been transparent in anyway. J.

I agree. Communication on this wasn't very good. Especially for those that don't go into the website regularly, or couldn't. It was down a lot, but I do know people that were able to elect Club Points from their VOI. THe good thing is that for 2023 you can still use your VOIs or StarOptions to make Vistana reservations. You can also convert your 2024 VOIs to Club Points and then borrow them to make a 2023 reservation. If this results in not needing the 2023 StarOptions, those can be banked forward for two year. We are Vistana premium Platinum weeks owner (Kierland) and Vistana Flex owners. (Executive level) After watching your videos about the Abound program, we went to our update with the best of intentions not to buy anything. Only to be offered to buy 500 points directly into the trust (so we could “skip” the Abound bucket. Not having watched any videos where you addressed trust point option, we were caught off guard, and bought in … now thinking about rescinding … thoughts???

If you are already Executive level before the additional 500 points, then you are already in a great position. The 500 points doesn't really do anything more for you except give you more points. Not exactly sure what "skip" the Abound bucket really means, but it doesn't sound like anything that is necessary in order to keep using what you own and electing points from your VOIs if you want to do that. My recommendation is to always rescind. They will be happy to take your money later if you ever change your mind.

@@DestinationTimeshare Thank for such a quick reply. Basically they were saying in Abound you have to wait for a Marriott owner to deposit their points. If you buy Trust points you don’t have to wait for a deposit, and there is atleat twice as much inventory

That isn't necessarily true. While the trust has its own inventory, which amounts to about 650 million points, Marriott has so far shown that they make all of the trust inventory available to everyone at the beginning by depositing all that trust inventory into the MVC Exchange Company that is open to weeks owners and trust owners. Even if the 650 million points in the trust were only available to trust owners, only your new 500 trust points would have access to it (500 isn't enough for anything). You couldn't combined the 500 with your other points to access that trust inventory with all your points. I also highly doubt that 50% of the inventory is in the trust. The trust is actually very small by comparison to deeded weeks.

We are Deeded owners at Vistana Resort (purchased in April 1990). We have never converted to any of the points systems through all of the various owners, just kept our unit and our week. We had our Owner's Update yesterday and what a roller coaster that was! First we were told that the Marriott didn't owe us anything and that we would lose part of the value of our unit. When we refused to pay more for our existing unit, we were then led into a room and told to not worry about it, they would "give us" 81,000 points if we just called customer service and asked for a floating week. AT NO TIME was Abound ever mentioned. I am so confused and frankly disgusted. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

You won't lose any value in what you own as you own a deeded week which you can continue to use as you always have. You don't need to buy anything more to continue to use. Since your week is not in the VSN, you don't have the points associated with it and I think any offers to enroll it in VSN are long expired. So you can't get 81,000 points by just calling customer service. 81,000 points are only available to those that participate in VSN and have StarOptions, but since you never signed up when offered many years ago, that wouldn't apply to you. I an a deeded owner in Hawaii, one bedroom for one week 81000 star option points. Without my permission they put me in abound for 2024. I tried to get it reversed and they said it had already been done. My 81000 star option are now worth 3430 abound points and I found out from a supervisor that 3430 abound points are only good at my resort for 6 nights. My 81000 star options were worth 7 nights. They cheated me out of one night. I don't think they can change the deed that I have with the State of Hawaii without my written permission. I am planning on fighting this. I am so mad I have decided to cancel my Marriott American Express card and use my Discover cash back card instead, not that they care.

You are under no obligation to use Club Points or elect your week for CLub Points. You can continue to use StarOptions exactly as you have in the past. Ignore what the sales people say. Thanks for watching.

It is too bad you are not a supervisor for abound because a supervisor told me I have to accept the abound points and can not get back my 81000 star points. She said that was final. Also I went on my dashboard and that is exactly what they did to me, so apparently they have not been listening to you.@@DestinationTimeshare

Yes, they need to watch this channel. Sadly the sales people really don't know or flat out lie. Sometimes both. Each year you have the option to elect your week for Club Points. This decision would need to be made by September of the year prior to your use year. If you don't elect Club Points, then you have the choice to still book your home resort week or use StarOptions.

Hey, Jeremy, "VSN" means Vistana Signature Network and that is what my wife and I own "Week 29" now it's 67,000 points. What does VOI stand for? So, if I understand correctly, I can bank my week/Flex Points into Star Option and then be able to go to Sheraton Flex, Westin Flex, or MVC? Also, I what to be like you and your wife and travel the world. Now that our children are adults. That's the only reason I bought a timeshare. Question: Is 67,000 points a good number of points to enjoy the "VSN" network? Any help in navigating the system is greatly apricated. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the Timeshare VSN, SF, WF, and MVC world.

Hello Stephen. VOI means "Vacation Ownership Interest". Just another term for a deed or contract that you own with Vistana. Each week or separate Flex contract is a VOI. I am not sure exactly what you own. Is it a deeded week or one of the Westin or Sheraton Flex programs? In either case, 67,000 StarOptions isn't a lot. I would normally consider 81,000 to be the ideal amount to start out with. We also own two Marriott weeks, so that is why we are able to travel more. We also utilise Interval International for getaways and accomodations certificates to stay during low season at a lot of different place. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

@@DestinationTimeshare We owned deeded week 29, but get tricked into Sheraton Flex programs, so now we have VILLA-TYPE FLOATING. You said, that 67,000 is not a lot of points which makes me even more upset about this. So, you have deeded weeks or 81,000 points? how can I get to 81,000 points for the best price do you know? Were the two Marriott weeks expensive? And do you feel MVC is better than VSN?

We own a resale 81,000 Sheraton Vistana Villages Bella phase deeded week. These aren't as easy to find resale anymore, but they probably sell for about $3000 and you get StarOptions, but you can't elect Abound Club Points. You need to be careful what resale Vistana you purchase because only a few resorts can book with StarOptions at eight months.

If you are a voluntary member of VSN, then yes, not paying the Club Dues and opting out takes away the ability to bank points. Banking points is a function of VSN not a function of Sheraton Flex, Westin Flex or another point program. The same is true if you own voluntary weeks that can book using StarOptions at 8 months. This may not be the right platform, but I am in the process of trying to sell my Vistana deeded week. How can I get out of Abound? I have paid my dues, my Abound is paid in full. I just want to be rid of both. Any ideas how I can get out of Abound, other than not paying my yearly "maintenance" and dues. I cannot travel like I used to, so it is basically throwing money down the toilet. Thank You

It depends on what you own. Some Vistana deeded weeks have considerable resale value, some weeks have a little value and some weeks have none. You might have to give some away for free. Where do you own? You can usually list them on places like Redweek.com or Tug2.net.

@@DestinationTimeshare I own Lakeside Terrace in CO high season-Christmas week. I have started the process for Redweek to list it. I have enjoyed my years with Vistana, but at this point in my life, paying the 3K a year in maintenance between Vistana and Abound is senseless. I cannot travel like I used to. It may come down to just not paying my maintenance and club dues and just call it a wash.
