Sorry to repeat what I said in your other video, if you are used to the western lifestyle, and traveling in India with children, you cannot travel cheaply! Use flights, use uber, pre-book your travel and transportation as much as possible, and use middlemen/agents/guides as much as possible so as avoid encounters with hustlers and scammers. This is the basic tenet that even we Indians living abroad follow when traveling across India. You folks are traveling like backpackers, but with children. That's a strict no no, unless you want your children to experience the harsh street life of India, with all its noise and filth and pollution. Or just stay away from the metro cities and go to the clean and quiet regions - Munnar in Kerala, Lakshadweep islands, the pristine northeastern states like Sikkim and Meghalaya - each is a tourism destination in its own right. Should have done your research before traveling to India.

I loved the old buildings but the noise exhaust and animals. I have three birds in a cage and the mess they make, the idea of all those pigeons give me NIGHTMARES ! Yuck. What’s the difference in riding an elephant or a camel? I think both have been used as pack animals for a long time but in those circumstances wouldn’t they have someone overseeing the care of such animals to be sure they are properly handled?
@karencurley4293

I think because camels have been domesticated for thousands of years, like horses. Elephants are considered wild animals. Sadly we have tried to domesticate this wild animal, especially in circuses.

@@marymcmillian7354 the only thing that I thought was acceptable in this whole video was a ride on an elephant. I would not ride a camel but as long as the elephant is cared for and treated humanely I don’t have any issues with riding one. I personally believe that many animals actually enjoy working. I grew up on farms with animals and they certainly preferred having work rather than being bored. It’s all about how well you take care of them. India doesn’t appeal to me for visiting because of the crowds, noise, pollution, too many animals, and the unhygienic environment. I also don’t like Indian food so I might get very hungry. lol.

My Concern... would be the > Homeless Children 🧒 < in India Vs. the Elephants. 🐘 ("deserve to be in their families") (At least the Elephants are being cared for. (Home/ shelter / food and a purpose. ) > They Love their Animals. While the children on the streets.. lack a stable home or a shelter and some of them have no family ties. They are easy victims of abuse and inhuman treatment, and are often engaged in petty theft or prostitution for economic survival. >> 100000 children remain homeless and on the streets of India. Priorities.

Lots of smog (cough-cough)!! I think for me to be in another culture is to expand myself beyond what is comfortable for me. I learned to just try to be open and try not to judge. I learned that I truly don't know the realities of anyone else...trying to superimpose what I know on someone only creates more division and possibly estrangement. I so loved my time in India, my mind was blown open every day!! I came home with a whole new appreciation for the magnificent diversity of my planet❤❤❤

I am an Indian living in the UK and I too went to India in December. My voice got choked and I had a runny nose all the time. The biggest problem in India is that nobody really cares about the pollution and it is never quite.

Thank you for NOT eating cows and buffaloes @oddache. At least the owners care for their elephants like children and don't eat them. And frankly the elephants are just WALKING! When there are no tourists, they are made to walk for hours on the highway as exercise. And the weights of the humans on them are miniscule for them. I wish they HAD ridden the elephants. Crusoe would've loved it. And if no one takes these elephant rides out of (misplaced) concern, what will the elephant owners earn and what will they feed their elephants? I remember one elephant owner's wife making these huge chapatis of jaggery and wheat on an open fire in Jim Corbett park. She told me first my children (meaning the elephants) will eat, then we will eat.

That’s what I was thinking. Is it that camels are not considered as majestic as elephants? I’m not offended, I would have been amazed at seeing elephants in their colourful attire as John was but somehow it seems wrong to ride them. And don’t you have to pay to ride camels? All good, just part of the experience. Good video, I just don’t think I could cope with all that street noise 😂

My dear friends, I was afraid to watch these India videos because I am afraid to travel. But I found that going with you I am safe. Watching you made it a wonderful experience to see all the wonders of places I will never see otherwise. I was afraid for you a lot of times. I was imagining what you were feeling privately and suffered for you. I have been worrying for the strength of your bodies, seeing how taxing travel with little children is. When I saw one of you carrying BOTH children I was praying for your spines. I found out, in my life, you actually can use up body parts. We think we are always strong enough to do what we need to. And we can! However, later we may find that we use up too much, too soon. That's why I pray for your precious bodies. No one told me to ease up. Then my body told me. John, you have been given one lesson about this. Respect and be gentle with your body. The payoff is more life in your old life. I am very proud of you and your accomplishments. I love you and all you give us. But my dears, take good care of yourselves. No one else will.🖖

Another wonderful podcast. Elephant situation - I to felt like Tara for a long time then with more life exploration and confirmed by my experiences I realised that my view was narrow. Some are very much honoured and well cared for and indeed would enjoy the lives they have. This came about when I started watching the work of animal communicators on youtube. I witnessed communication from arena performance horses who appeared to be very much loved and cared for at the highest level. They expressed how bonded they were with their owners and that they enjoyed the work they did. Then I looked for this option with other animals and witnessed similiar situations. I learnt to communicate with animals also albeit more modestly and I realised there are many different circumstances and experiences all beings are having. Our role as humans is to step in and protect when circumstances are bad only. ❤ Running wild and free can be a short difficult life and not desired by all. ❤

Life in India is not easy for lower middle earning class. There is pollution in these cities but we don't have money to transform completely into e bikes or electric cars in few years. Cleanliness is definitely a problem Indians should work on.

This was a really good video. Watching the boys especially cruseo . Just sleeping anywhere that’s so good for traveling. The temples and houses, homes are just beautiful. Thanks for the history too. Because when you were in Africa and went to the place in desert that had beautiful homes and a train that run around town for the ladies. It was a diamond place I think Germans were involved in building and gathering the diamonds. Anyway it is mentioned in the new Tarzan movie. Or it is a copy being the movies. Glad you are enjoying the trip with the boys I know traveling with children can be challenging. Y’all have this though. See you home soon . Love what is going on at the farm 👏🏻🙏🏻😊blessings travel mercies🙏🏻

Oh, I love everything about this episode! The hectic, the love-hate-relationship with mother India. Seeing the Palace of the winds again brought tears to my eyes. I've been there, wandering about, same time as John. Enchanting India! You sure are brave to explore with your two boys. And to see the difference between them; Crusoe being a pure nature child, and Sawya is such a happy soul, taking it all in. I love the music and the editing. Thank you for taking us with you on this journey!

Great video. Love seeing the adventures you choose and how you define you time to make it special not only for mum and dad but also the boys. I appreciate you each explaining your feelings on certain aspects of travel, guides, food, sights and activities. And even that you don't agree. Very refreshing view of travel. Please excuse me if this is a naive question, but what is the difference between riding a camel and an elephant? Looking forward to each episode of your fabulous adventures! My Concern... would be for the > Homeless Children 🧒 < in India VS. the Elephants. 🐘 (At least the Elephants are being cared for. (Home/ shelter / food, exercise and a purpose. ) > They sure Love their Animals. While the children on the streets.. lack a stable home or a shelter and some of them have no family ties. They are easy victims of abuse and inhuman treatment, and are often engaged in petty theft or prostitution for economic survival. >> 100000 children remain homeless and on the streets of India. Priorities.

I think it’s about how the animals are trained, and the environment they live in as they work. A camel is mostly found in a desert setting, an elephant naturally in the countryside too. Good challenge. Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.

Another superb video! I have no idea when (not if 😉I'm putting it out to the Universe and you are my witnesses), I'll get to visit India for myself, but it's absolutely going to be including some of the amazing places you've shown us all in these episodes, so thank you! 🤗 I'm all for getting guides too, Tara! Google is good for findling places to visit, but a guide when you are there can bring those places to life far more than a web page ever could! I think as far as the elephants bit goes for me, I totally get Tara's viewpoint, but I think I'm more along John's thinking on this one... I suppose it is something where you need to research the elephant keepers (for want of a MUCH better word), to make sure they are being cared for in the best possible way before paying into it and having a ride. If they are cared for and happy where they are (with the huge assumption that they were bought in the best possible way initially, of course), then I suppose it is not much different to going horseriding here would be, just bigger and in a different part of the World. It's like the old donkey rides along the beaches - some were quite rightly stopped because they were working the donkeys beyond anything remotely reasonable, and were far less than caring for them, but others were given the respect and care that any *working * animal would be, but because of the nature of things were forced to stop too. It's a bit like your chickens. We can see just how loved they are and how much of a part of the Newby family they are, but they *work * to give you eggs and clear up bugs off the veggies etc. but some people would think you are cruel for keeping them at all; and others will wonder why you don't get a couple of hundred more and squeeze them into the coop.... It's a lot more complex the further into things that you look I suppose. I did like what John said at the end though about filming you walking behind the elephants - magical! (and a little less fraught than the last close-up-and-personal elephant encounter for sure! ) 🐘🐘🐘 Whichever way you look at things, whether you go for rides or not, you are providing such wonderful sights and making such wonderful memories for the boys, and that in itself is just the best! 💚 *Hugs * to you all! xx
