I will add something here as I have 10 computers in my home network and they all have a separate Bluetooth/WiFi card in addition to the gigabyte Ethernet. I use as the nominal choice the Ethernet backbone as default, I do turn off BT/WIFI unless needed. The reason: saturating your over the air signal space although minimal still is going to create a reduction in your WIFI routers ability to deal with all the signals. That is one of the reasons that is common out there to try different WIFI channels to get the best throughput. You can do a WIFI channel benchmark to see what is a good channel for you particular area. This may change from time to time as people add more or updated equipment so it's good to retest and find the best channels out there.

TL;DR - Yes. Turn WiFi off if you have the ability to use both simultaneously.

The rest of my house used wifi but I’m the only one that wants to use Ethernet but I’m wondering if they will get booted off if I use Ethernet and they don’t?

A situation I'm in is that I would like to use ethernet for a stable internet connection to do live streaming, but would also like to use my phone as a webcam. The phone uses an app that connects to the computer through WIFI and for that reason I was thinking I would need to be connected to both ethernet and Wi-Fi at the same time (ethernet for live streaming, Wi-Fi to be able to connect the phone to the laptop. Does what I want sound feasible? I'm going to test out your suggestions tomorrow and see how I get on. Not great with computer networking so not sure if what I'm trying to do is a dumb idea or anything.

you can still use droidcam even if you're connected to ethernet only.... as long as you're connected on the same router/network...

I keep having a delay and I use an ether cable through my router to my MacBook Pro question is should I just turn off my Wi-Fi and just use the ether cable? Every time I stream I keep having a delay but their pre-recorded streams so technically I’m not even going live so I don’t understand

followed your guide to turn off wifi when conenct to ethernet automatically, at step: In the list, find Disable Upon Wired Connect and click on it I cant find it in my system, it differs from system to system, so its not working from mine, wasted my time.
