People forget handsome jack was so HATED for a while when BL2 came out but in time we grew to appreciate how good it really was (arguably the best) & I think with the DLC of BL3 it’ll end up the same. The main story will never be as good though

AND THEN... OH BOY THEN... Tyren is now the destroyer - the strongest vault monster in the galaxy, while the background is stunning, the boss, just looks... meh... DONT GET ME WRONG for a boss she looks okay, but is overshadowed by The graveward for example. And then she just dies... no final monologue like we got from handsome jack, nothing. OH I ALMOST FORGOT, Lilith now has to die for some reason which is mentioned for 3 seconds and then she just offs herself... well then... that happened out of nowhere. Oh! And Typhon! Yep, cool plot twist, cool character aaaaaaand dead... in like.... 10 minutes... yay...

They are the worst villains in all of the bordelands franchise. Whoever wrote their characters deserves to be axed from working on any game ever again.

I actually think the problem is not that the writers are out of touch, I think they are perhaps a little too close to reality. Anyone disagreeing should really branch out more in terms of what they are willing to watch, just to see it for themselves. Or rather, never mind. Don't do that.

Handsome Jack's shadow is just too large. Really, outside of their vlogger gimmick, which I personally found incredibly grating, the two of them were fairly capable villains. When they acted outside of their personas or focused on the logistics of their fame, they were pretty good characters. Shame that several elements of their characters that could've given them more depth were pretty much just tossed in then left unexplored. Troy was a pretty cool boss though (even though his trash talking was hilariously ruined if you hit him with status effects pre-patch).

@Corey Stokely The satire comes from the obnoxious caricatures they portray, in the same way Jack was to a mega-corporation CEO. That's the joke. "Like, comment, and obey" to their hoards of brainless psychotic fans who follow them because of a cult of personality. It's obviously fictional commentary about the hyper-obsessive youtube culture that teenagers fall for. I'm not saying it was amazing, or even original. Just that it was pretty okay.

I think the problem is the execution. If they had been developed as much as Handsome Jack, I think they could have been awesome. Just imagine: the streamers could put out KZfaq vlogger-style hit pieces on the playable characters in order to get their followers to hate you. They could rally their followers to take on particular builds in order to exploit your weaknesses and take you down. They could do "collabs" with the other bosses in the game in order to further develop the other bosses and their own characters. And they could keep talking to you in charming, funny ways that you love to hate, a la Handsome Jack. I think the premise is good, and they really could have been awesome if they were used properly.
