The part with “more responsible than in real life” really hits me. Joker was the best student in school during both my playthroughs (5 and Royal) but I used to be literally the worst student in the ranks of my high school cause I used to sleep during exams. 🙈

The breaking point for me was when I found the retro games minigame/mechanic. It just felt incredibly ridiculous to come home from high school and play a videogame about coming home from high school and playing a videogame.

The secret is not to live in the same place as someone playing Persona 5, but to play it together. I started playing Persona 5 for the first 50 hours, then my girlfriend took over for the next 100 hours and I was the one watching her because she got way more into the game than I did. Now 2 years later, we are married and finally on the last palace. Yeah, it's a really long game.

Coming back to this video in 2022, I was blown away again by the editing & polish. Matt always knocks it out of the park in this department, but I think this might be his masterpiece. That’s not even counting Shelby’s always-on-point comedic timing, ProZD’s flawless impression of “Igor” or the absolute banger that is the Last Surprise parody, both vocally and comedically. But seriously, Matt, this edit is (*chef’s kiss)

@@ctaffy919Just finished Royal at 140hrs, with maxing all stats and confidants. Definitely drags... Especially since there are hours in between each signifiacnt story node, and each Palace takes around 3-4 hours to grind through until you overpower yourself to the point of auto-killing the non-boss enemies. But at the same time, the characters, story and battle mechanics are all so satisfying that after my 140hrs, I'm excited to start strikers just to see more.

They're both great. Ohyas perks may suck but her story is awesome, and as it links with Shido it may as well be a part of the main plot. Plus Mishima is just depressed, he's not a bad character

I watched their streams and she enjoys the story, music and presentation but find the grinding boring and the over explaining of plot details that plagues Anime and stuff. It makes the game longer than it should.

that's what they seemed to have learned. They learned for some reason people don't like when other people rate the game they love poorly (even tho that's the point of a rating in the first place, to give a bad one to a game someone dislikes)

I agree, I wouldn't want to watch someone play a game as interpersonal as Persona 5 Royal. Luckily my wife and I are both gamers. I was also lucky enough to be able to play the game while she was at work so that she could experience the game, blind, herself. It's both of our favorite JRPGs of all time and we both ending up romancing Makoto.

I'm close to 40. My wife has to spend this month on another continent, so I've downloaded P5 to pass the time during the lockdown. Two weeks later I've put 60+ hours into it. I have regressed to the level of the 16-year-old. I feel kinda Japanese. I'm not sure I know the way back.

Here here. My fiancee had a very similar experience to this game. She appreciates it and understands why I love it but she'll still occasionally curse it to Hell for having to hear it over and over again. Doesn't help that I platinumed both vanilla and Royal. She's enjoying Strikers though! The combat is much more fun to watch.

The daily log reading "Cheated on Ann again" multiple times killed me. She's literally the first romanceable character you meet in the game and so many of the characters are good, so you go from "Ah yes this is... romance...?" to "Ah shit I like this person better."
