Everyone basically destroyed this 2 guys, and made them the laughing stock and the scapegoat when in reality they were victims. Everyone else was guilty but never paid the consequences.

Hearing Rob and Fab's English albeit with heavy accents, shows they are/were (/:) highly intelligent. How many Americans can learn multiple languages, have rockin bodies, can dance while lipsyncing perfectly, are making an effort? Hell no, so many sitting on their couch-potato asses JUDGING others. I admire the shittt outta Fab (and Rob RIP) for keeping his head up and forging ahead with his music today. He has real talent and the hell with the judges, juries and executioners! I'll support Fab and John Davis forever and ever and THANKS to John Davis for teaming up with Fab that's so awesome. Unmarketable...John Davis is a nice-looking man TODAY imho. Keep On Running guys! You have fans who still love to listen and WATCH you both! ❤❤❤ (sorry for rant I'm passionate about this!)

Lots of Americans can learn multiple languages, have rocking bodies, dance and DON'T lip sync! Americans are James Brown, Michael Jackson, Prince, DeBarges, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke etc....and why do others mimick American musicality so much? Amy Winehouse patterned Etta James; the Beatles loved Muddy Waters; John Lennon loved Judy Garland! I love and appreciate Rob and Fab..and I think that Frank Farian should be hung by his nuts if he has any!...Don't fuck with what Americans have done in music history, especially the Black Americans due the struggle within the industry and constantly being exploited....WE set the standard bitch! Vamp ليون Both Rob and Fab were models. That’s the reason why producer Frank Farian used their images. The “real” singers were unattractive middle aged men who couldn’t dance and weren’t marketable. Frank Farian exploited the young models & they were humiliated on a global scale. Sadly, Rob couldn’t handle the humiliation and committed suicide at the age of 33.

@@Blondie727 Everything you said is correct except that Rob didn't commit suicide. He had at times been suicidal and depressed, but before his death those were mostly cries for help. He ultimately died from an accidental overdose in his sleep from prescription medication and alcohol. 😔🙏🏽🙏🏾

What i find funny is how people talk as though Milli Vanilli did nothing but sit on their back sides and rake in the cash. They had to perform over and over and they had to keep up a public appearance that could not have been easy. I think they handled it well. Then they were hung out to dry by a media system and as usual other people come out of the woodwork to pick on the carcass. Shame on them. I actually don't think it was as shameful as some make out. It's no different to actors who don't play themselves in movies.

Tiel_Ardie there's a very warm & special place for Frank Farian when he moves on from this world. I don't know how he can live with himself. He is directly responsible for what happened to all the singers involved & for Rob's death. Makes me sick what he did & Arista Records as well. For the record, Fabrice has a good voice & CAN sing.

kazam Shah It wasn't a record, the music (vocals, backing track) was all on a computer and it spectacularly failed with a hard drive problem during the performance. If they'd used a DAT machine, they probably would have been safer but Milli Vanilli were doomed to be exposed, eventually. :)

This makes a very good point - people want to see what they see in the videos not what the performer does on stage (and the singer does sound very different on stage than they do in video) I feel sorry for these guys really - they were kind hung out to dry by the corporate company they signed to. And apparently they signed contracts that were written in German and they had no lawyers present at the time. Sad situation (and it cost Rob hos life)

jealousy probably. Wanted the media attention and worshiping fans Rob & Fab had acquired partially through his work, he's bitter. I doubt he was paid nearly as well either. But John Davis teamed up with Fab they are singing together and it's magic. That's a true heart right there. I ❤John he took the HIGH road and it's paying off for him and Fab. Maybe not a lotta $$ but in terms of redemption and respect he's RICH! :)

they could sing, but MR Farian did what he knew best. He used people bytelling them they did not have enough time to record the songs themselves. He had it all arranged from the beginning. I was almost 11 when hell broke loose back then.I was very sad but never thought of blaming Rob or Fab for that...Showbiz is a wolf, ready to swallow everyone in the name of fame and money. Yes those two had their blame but not the whole of it...After all if you take a trip back in time, most of the pop and italo groups were lyp synched by others ..I didn't hear anyone complain even if they knew that black box singer was not the one in clips or lives, or when Den Harrow had Tom Hooker's voice in his songs, and Valerie Dore had the lead singer of Noveccento singing. Even Boney M did it. M.Vanilli were to be victimized from the very beginning. They could sing but were never given the chance to do it. So all those saying it was shocking that they were not the real singers, are liars and hypocrites since many others before them had done the same thing

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Milli Vanilli/Rob & Fab fan, and agree with the majority of what you said but the biggest difference between the other bands that you mentioned, except for Black Box, and Milli Vanilli, is that they remained in Europe. To my understanding, the act of having performers lip-syncing to others' vocals was a common practice in Europe but it's a different story in the U.S. I've never been to Europe, I've been in the U.S. my entire life and that was unheard of here. That's why it became such a big deal. If Milli Vanilli hadn't come to the U.S., they would've been fine. And yes, Black Box being exposed for the same thing as were C&C Music Factory and Technotronic, a short time later was for the same reason. Americans had never seen such a thing and it felt like we had been betrayed and deceived. Personally, I was in favor of giving Rob & Fab a second chance when they released their album in 1992, but I can understand why so many others didn't feel that way. It was a very ugly and unfortunate situation.

King Asaad Yes, I totally agree. Here in the states it was utterly shocking. It was so scandalous, it was talked about for months afterwards. The American music industry back then was so button up and very serious. I would side more with European standards on this one. I think it's ok if it's generally known they aren't using their own voices and everyone just has a good time.

QuadrantBottomHalf That's about the size of it. Some people are strong and others are weaker. It is so sad decades later. Rob lost control getting on drugs to cope and doing other things like stealing. Seems to me the last of his self-esteem crashed when the exposure happened while Fab was like the Phoenix who rose up again. Regardless I'll always love them both. :)

Not nearly as much. It’s clear that Shaw wasn’t really aware of what his vocals were going to be used for and wanted more recognition and money and Farian fired him from Milli Vanilli for not playing along further with recording the album.

Everyone does not lip sync now. What a ridiculous thing to say. Natural voices are still respected in the industry. That being said, not many people did what they did--using another person's voice. That's lip syncing but also lip singing over another's voice. Most artists still use their own voice, I think Farian should have gotten most of the blame tho and I love Rob and Fab.

Rob & Fab would have never been able to do that. They were bound by a confidentiality agreement in their contract their producer had them sign. It would have caused the Recording Academy and the music industry at large more humiliation.

He didn't write that song. He only did the rapping/talking parts, which he did not write the lyrics to. So he really didn't do a lot on that track.

They really could sing but for the producer was not good business they sing because they could complain more money and leave the band at any time, Rob Pilatus asked 2 millions to continuos in the band, The producer wants to be the owner of everything about the band to gain more money as well as he did with Bony M.

Rather be from Germany or France because imho Fab is one talented mofo. Learning multiple languages, dancing like the star he is, producing awesome music NOW (just listened to some of his solo music he wrote, samg, even PRODUCED!) A class act who was taken advantage of back when he was young, naive and hopeful. I'm glad the cruel world didn't kill his amazing spirit. It WASN'T all their fault if at all. Look at what Dre and Diddy do to sign young artists...Birdman/Baby etc. I love Lil Wayne and a lot of hip hop music but this shit gong on right now....Drake controversy (saying he's like Milli Vanilli doesn't write his own shit...) why does anyone care?
