Its amazing to see how emotional he gets when he starts talking about how he watched a guy perform a Bob Dylan song and how it changed him, I find it inspiring.

Understaning why you were abandoned and forgiving your mother isn't a case of generosity it's more about survival. The pain that comes with feeling abandoned is so great and so paralyzing that you just have to let it go. A life of bitterness isn't worth living.

Just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed that comment: "The global elite call Australia "the Ark of the Earth". Pine Gap has accomodation to handle 35,000 people built underneath. Common sense would tell you that the ruling class wouldn't hesitate to save themselves without a thought for the rest of us. Who gives a rat's ass anyway, we are eternal consciousness, these illusions that we believe are our lives are merely field trips designed to gather 3rd dimensional data for "The Source". I think that from a psychologist's perspective, she's trying to make him come to terms with any anger that he has for his mother, not trying to get him to overcome it - rather accept that he is angry. Once you can accept your feelings, you are much more comfortable with them (generally at least), so I think that's what she's trying to do.

Pamela was not and did not and does not ever put words in Billy's mouth. She was trying to wrap her own head around a situation she was not privy to. By her understanding she brings herself closer to Billy and from all I've seen and heard since this was originally filmed they are far closer as a couple. We should not place our own concepts on this man because he is honestly so far removed from most people. He stands with no emotional crutch and works with the gifts he has. His wife included.

If you don't think of Pamela as a shrink but just as an interviewer then she is doing a great job. What may seem a stupid question to some brings out in Billy an interesting response. Good for her.

@paddythetinker I think Pamela is not hearing what she expects to-that is, what she has learned are the effects of particular behaviour by adults towards a child, so she is prompting him, trying to get him to say what she wants to hear. She is also not listening to him. One of the best things anyone can do for a troubled person is listen. He is far smarter than she is and understands himself far better than she does.

this are conversations billy and pam have had for a long time, so pam doesn't really have to do the shrink thing on billy because she's done that already, billy knows what she's after, but its tv, pam has to say something, ofcourse its not the same as it would be in other situations

@paddythetinker - wifey may be asking questions for a million people who want his answer on the point - so she is not attempting to "get him angry" she knows the "brain" as a doctor, and she is seeking Billy's deeper method of focus- This is the reason of the RAP, other wise this would be BEIGE you know , thanks for posting

@paddythetinker Anger is sometimes a healthy state of being when dealing with emotional traumas. It's a stepping stone on the way to a resolution, I feel.

@Olivia, in his generation and mine, we learned very young post ww2 not to openly complain about what we didn't have, we didn't need it belted into us by our parents we saw it for ourselves. "stiff upper lip!" andd all the other clichés. "Council Living Theology" I call it which Is on its way out! Peace

I love how people are so annoyed with Pamela just because she is a shrink. I don't think it is that she doesn't understand him, but that she can't articulate what she DOES understand. When she says that he intellectualized the problem, and understands what happened as an adult, I think she is saying that he is wise enough, and old enough, to be in his mother's shoes. He DID have a bad childhood, and it had to have come from somewhere. She assumed being abandoned contributed to SOMETHING.

I know this'll be about the kerbillionth comment on this issue but: The one thing I've always hated about shrinks is that they wrap people up in little conforming packages, saying that everyone is precisely 20% anger, 15% sadness, 50% sexual tension, or whatever, and they therefore think that if you're not displaying this exact formula, then you're just repressing it. Hasn't anyone ever considered the possibility that people react differently to similar situations??

that woman seems to annoy billy, not in an obvious way, but you can tell. It is annoying though, when a shrink tries to tell you how you're feeling, and 'diagnoses' you.

well Scientific testing has proven both sides of the brain are used pretty much equally when doing creative things etc etc, they debunked that a while ago, yet people still think one side of the brain does more of a type of thinking.

I've never felt the need to go to a "shrink", but jesus this woman/his wife must be a bad one, right? How the hell can it be productive to talk to someone who is basically telling you how to feel.
