These used to be fantastic painting tools for cutting in accurately and quickly. It seems that poor quality control has made them useless now. Very disappointing.

I bought one last week in Bunnings. It was the old model. Worked perfectly. I got it in Sydenham Bunnings

I have the one you have there, and it worked perfectly, created perfect edges.

Maybe mine was from a faulty batch? I'm glad to here they still make good ones then Joan. They are great things to speed up my amateur skills. I was so disappointed when I tried my one out.

I hope it works in the future for you...believe me, I am the WORST house painter and this made great lines, made me feel quite awesome. :)

I bought one of the 'professional' models, which has a flip-down edge so it doesn't bleed paint at the edge of the pad. The wheels were not eccentric, BUT the wheels are not close enough to the pad to touch the edge of a ceiling cornice, so you and up scraping the BLACK plastic flip-down edge along your freshly painted WHITE cornice, with the result that you have awful black marks on the edge of the cornice.

Is it possible that it's wobbling so little that the paint is still evenly spread after you make a pass? The diameter of the wheels is at least half the width of the brush surface, so I'm curious if that's the case. So long as it's not wobbling in so far that you get paint on the surface the wheels are traveling on?

As it turns out, that's not the case Boppsta712. The irregular surface of the plaster finish shows up any discrepancies. Unfortunately these devices are supposed to help with accuracy, not create inaccuracy. The paint pads on these devices spread the paint beautifully, but have short fibres, and show how up how straight it was moved. If you're not very fussy, it will do an adequate job (from afar). With high contrast between colours it becomes harder to do a good line.

its hard to tell when you are not actually applying paint to the wall

It was moving onto the moulding, and a few millimetres away from it. I didn't need to use paint to see it was not going to work. I eventually found my old one that ran perfectly straight and worked well.
