55 and 75 play MUSIC...............many high end cartridges are great performers but lack the coherence and musical balance to play music ....

Judging by the frequency plot graphs of the M55/V15 and the M75/M91/V-15 II the difference between them must be stylus mass and trackability, because frequency response-wise they seem almost identical. Is this true? Because if it's true they don't seem like a big step forward from the previous generation - or at least up until the improved models came through.

Indeed M55 was a spin off of the V15...........liked that cartridge, good music for a small budget at that time.

@@frankgeeraerts6243 I completely agree, and it still is if you know where to look for! Got the V15 for 40€ and a Jico N44-7 for 25€

Do you happen to know if the N75 series have a VTA of 15 or of 20 degrees?

When the cartridge came out in 1968, it have a 15 degree VTA. The standard was changed to 20 degrees in 1975, and I'm assuming that the VTA of replacement styli were changed to 20 degrees after 1975.

@@vinyltranslators3730 Do you think there would be a problem if I fit a replacement with a 20 degree angle in the V-15 I body?

@@VinylComeback I don't think there will be a problem, at least there shouldn't be an audible difference. That standard was set up because records were cut at a 15 degree angle, but the actual angle of the cutting heads varied considerably.

@@vinyltranslators3730 Great, thanks for your input, much appreciated. I mainly play European records so the 20º VTA should come in handy. One last question, do you have any variable reluctance cartridges, like the GE VR-1000?

@@VinylComeback Sorry, no. The only types I have are Moving Magnet, Moving Iron, and 1 Moving Coil (Audio Technica). I know Peter Pritchard from ADC was the engineer for the GE cartridge and he used that design for his "Induced Magnet" cartridges although his first ADC cartridge was a moving magnet. I do have several ADC videos for viewing.
