I had a really old Stud Pack video come through my feed a few days ago and I watched it. To see Paul smoothing through those sponsorship spiels like he does now is amazing compared to the man of few words in that early video. A stud is born...Great time to be alive. Keep up the great work.

Hey Studpack just wanted to say I’ve been watching you guys for years and I can honestly say you guys are the biggest reason why I left my full time job in the trades (plumbing/HVAC/electrical) to go solo and start my own remodeling business. It has been going great and I have to say you guys are playing a very big part in my success. Just seeing you guys do things and go about different ways of installing any and everything really helps when I have to come up with solutions on my own jobs. Much love from Palacios Home Services, we’re out of AZ so we know how it is when it comes to working outside in this heat!

I used these gecko guages and resided my last house on my own. Cost me about 5k to side house. When I sold it in 2022, my realtor said the siding added 50 to 60k t the house. They worked great

My house was finished in 2008 with siding in back only. It was the old way of doing hardie siding, nails on outside and caulk instead of flashing. It's an eye sore now and I desperately want to redo it. I'm in Houston and my home was damaged during the '21 freeze. I found out then there was no plywood/osb behind the siding. That explained the noise pollution and bugs getting in among other things. I would love to throw Zip behind it too! Wish I had someone that could help me DIY it 😅

The limitation of relying entirely on Geiko is shown on your last top course at a 6 3/4". reveal. The exposure of the last 4 or 5 courses could have been adjusted incrementally by 1/16 to 1/8" without ever being noticed.

Cannot believe that a lot with some drainage issues has turned into an amazing structure. I really appreciate being able to see the real struggles that have gone into getting this built. I can understand now why I see houses take awhile to go up, and maybe why I should look closer at houses that do go up super quick. Thank you all for your hard work!

I would cut the flashing 1/2” long then make a 1/4” cut on each side and tap the 1/4” flange Over the edge of the top trim. This will make it so that water won’t wick underneath the flashing at the edges and get on the top of your trim

That view on the end with you walking along the finished siding and the small windows really screws with my European mind. My mind constantly defaults back to thinking you're walking along a nice shed (which we typically finish with siding) despite me knowing you're high up on scaffolding next to a massive 2 story garage. I've said it before underneath a previous video but I'll say it again: We Europeans tend to mock the North-American way of building, but with this attention to detail and quality materials this building is just as solid as the brick buildings over here and probably tighter as well. This ain't your typical American plastic-sided builders-grade excuse of a house, this is quality!

Been here since you started this awesome project, and was there way before that when you were still in Louisiana. I even grew up in the Houston area, but based on your general description of your location and the size of the Houston metro area, you'd have to pack a lunch to get to see the house I grew up in, and might need another snack or two on the way back home. (Those who have never lived in Houston may think this is an exaggeration, but nope, it's a BIG sprawled out metropolis!) That said, I've got a brother in Magnolia, and I suspect that is close. Anyway, the project is coming together beautifully. Now, when you get to the main house, hire a crew to do the foundation. It was painful watching the throes you had to go through to get that finally completed. Everything else has been all-pro! And as always, there is a thumb up, because I enjoy watching other people working!

I re-sided my house a couple of summers ago with Hardie Plank. Those gecko gauges make it straightforward, and the 12 foot long planks can be handled by a single person. Used the Diablo blades for my miter and circular saw recommended by Hardie. They have a great system; very weather- and fire-resistant. Spouse was very happy with the results. 😀

20:40 - once you realized that top board was going to be 3/4 inch additional reveal, you could have adjusted the reveal of the three or four boards beneath that to spread that 3/4 inch out; each of the three boards at an extra 1/4 inch wouldn’t be too noticeable from the ground.
