Lost in Neglect: The Abandoned SIDLAKANG NEGROS VILLAGE
Join us on a journey to SIDLAKANG NEGROS VILLAGE, the supposed showcase of Negros Oriental province, nestled in the charming city of Dumaguete. On a sunny Sunday, we embarked on an adventure to explore this touted tourist attraction.
Upon arriving at the Negros Oriental Provincial Administration premises, we were met with a beautiful Provincial Tourist Office building. Eager to delve into the province's cultural richness, we approached the inviting entrance, only to find it deserted at first glance. Eventually, we encountered a security guard who informed us of the closure, urging us to return on a weekday.
Undeterred, we expressed our desire to capture the essence of the province through video recordings, hoping to explore the individual houses representing Negros Oriental's cities and municipalities. However, our hopes were dashed as we learned that all the houses were dilapidated and unusable, a fact not communicated to us beforehand.
Venturing outside, we initially believed that some houses were undergoing renovation. However, the reality dawned upon us as we realized the extent of destruction and abandonment surrounding us. The supposed tourist exhibition was in ruins, with little indication of its sorry state.
Navigating through the wreckage, we stumbled upon the tourist police office tucked away in a repaired house, devoid of clear signage. It became evident that tourists were left to navigate the desolation without proper guidance or information.
Reflecting on our experience, we couldn't help but feel disappointed by the neglect of Negros Oriental's representation in its capital city. Our encounter with the tourist office reaffirmed our skepticism towards such establishments, often lacking in useful information and guidance.
As we departed, we couldn't shake off the feeling of missed opportunities and unfulfilled promises, hoping for a brighter future where the true beauty of Negros Oriental is showcased with pride and diligence.
