The Death Korps are the worst opponent for Khorne, Nergle and Necron forces. Those forces rely mainly on terror tactics, which don't work on the Death Korps.

Terror isn't the main tool of Necrons or Nurgle, it's attrition. Valiant soldiers willing to spend their lives they may be the Death Korp can't out attrition undying enemies.

I presume that the idea of opening the gates to go meet the enemy head on was the idea of the Beserkers. Vrak Vet: "We have a massive advantage as long as we stay behind the wall." Beserker: "**** that, open the **** gate!"

Honestly, at this point in the siege, there is no competent Vrakksian army anymore, they've all been turned into mouthfrothing bloodcrazed idiots by their Chaos overlords... For all their individuals prowesses in battle, THAT is the greatest shortcoming of Chaos Marines : their rituals turn any competent and organised force into "let me solo them" cultists...

There needs to be some sort of commissioned artwork for of Vraks gate 579-459 done. The scene of god engines firing into chaotic infantry as they sprint down the hill to engage in bloody melee, as the Kreig fire volley after volley to stem their tide, only for Khornate berserkers to rip and tear till their very weapons break down. That, would be a harrowing warscape to look upon.

And this is why I have a Loadout saved in Darktide so I can roleplay as a Krieg Sharpshooter. Shovel and Helbore lasgun. Even puts Carapace-armoured Ogryns down, that lasgun punches HARD.
