Sig has finally released their first 10mm handgun and to many people, this is perhaps the most anticipated 10mm release in years. In this video we discuss the details, accuracy, and accessories for the new pistol and why in our opinion the Sig P320-XTEN is the best 10mm handgun in the market today.

It is the first high capacity Sig in 10mm, it has an unbelievable recoil mitigation system, I had the pleasure to shoot a little over 50 round during Sig Freedom days in AZ early last month, it is a great gun!!!

There are a few high capacity 10mm. Springfield and Glock are starters. Smaller gun makers have offerings as well but are not commonly seen but quite reliable. Issue here is brand blindness to a few makers. I forgot to add S&W came out before SIG offering. SIG, HK, and Keltec are last to playground. The latter two MIA.

I would hardly consider 15+1 “high capacity” but I recognize that other 10mm offerings don’t have 15 round mags so I think I see your point.

I have both 10mms also, but my glock is a gen 4 so it has the beaver tail ext strap. I like both, but prefer the Sig slightly. My only hang up is the availability of spare mags for the Sig. But you should definitely clean the Sig first, and load an unload the mag a few times .

One of the things I noticed, with the weights of the gun, you had different ammo in the magazines. Unless they are the same weight, that could contribute to the weight difference.

Good review! Took delivery on mine a week or so ago. It is a great 10mm pistol. Only fired about fifty of my 180 grain FMJ handloads thus far, however it cycles flawlessly, and is very easy to handle. It's a valuable, well appreciated addition to my handgun collection. It also complements my other Sig, a P250 in .45 ACP. I'm curious. What states, "...limit the number of handguns you can own?!" Wanna be sure to never move there for God's sake!

@neptunetriton
@neptunetriton Жыл бұрын
They need to be very stiff for 10mm, especially when running hotter loads. Otherwise the slide velocity outruns the magazine and you get failure to feed jams. That’s what’s happened to many of the early M&P 10mm guns because Smith & Wesson used weak mag springs on the first batch.

Great video, AZ Tigger. I called Sig to inquire about cleaning the Fire Control Unit in the P320 XTEN, and they said all I needed was to wipe the FCU off and be careful not get CLP or any other cleaning substances in the FCU. Please note, however, that when I shoot my P320 XTEN, it gets very dirty after shooting less than 50 rounds. Would you kindly let me know how best to clean the FCU? And what to use to clean it?
@AZTrigger
@AZTrigger 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I have been cleaning Sig FCU's since they first come out and never had a problem. Normally I use a light coat of Rem-Oil and make sure to wipe it down dry. These get pretty dirty and don't need to run wet so what Sig recommended makes sense to me. It you keep it wet after cleaning you are likely attracting more gunk into the FCU so to me at least, keeping it dry after cleaning seems to have worked well so far.

Here’s the real problem with the 10mm. Unless you load your own ammo, or buy Buffalo Bore, you don’t get to use the potential that the 10mm brings to the table. Factory 10mm barely surpasses factory .40 S&W in performance. It’s a ripoff to be honest. Luckily, I’ve been a handloader for many years.
@AZTrigger
@AZTrigger 2 жыл бұрын
@@bigbore4498 I understand your point and I am a big fan of Underwood Ammo for that reason. That being said, I have fired both 10mm and 40SW out of the same Glocks at swinging steal targets and I can assure you with most commercial rounds there was a noticeable difference in the reactive targets.
@bigbore4498
@bigbore4498 2 жыл бұрын
@@AZTrigger And I don’t disagree with you. There is a difference on reactive targets. It only takes around 50-75fps when shooting pistol rounds to notice a distinctive difference on steel. But factory ammo, by pretty much every measure, is anemic. Thats why you see the difference on the steel. Hornady says their 180gr XTP in 10mm is 1275fps and their 180gr XTP is 950fps. I’m sorry. But that’s abysmal external ballistics. My 180gr Noslers chrono at ~1480fps and my 220gr hardcasts chrono at ~1260. I won’t give my load data on YT. But I’m not at max. And that’s out of a 1911. And that’s why I load. Well, and the savings. I can load premium ammo at prices you can’t buy the cheap stuff for. I can load specifically for my gun. And I can get the performance that the cartridge offers. This is true for PC as well as RC. But it really shows up in the PC when you talk about 10mm and 44mag. And holy crap the difference with 45 Colt is ridiculous. For the unlearned, casual shooter, it probably doesn’t mean anything to them. They’re punching paper at an indoor range or plinking steel outdoors. But carry my 10mm (and other larger calibers) for real protection against real threats (2 legged and 4). I want every bit of performance I can get. I’m glad you mentioned Underwood. For the life of me I couldn’t come up with the name when I was mentioning BuffaloBore. Kevin would definitely be disappointed. Great company. I’ve tested their ammo in working up my own loads. I’d definitely trust it.

Good to see my Scottsdale Gun Club in the video! My first 10mm was a gen 4 G20, which was a massive disappointment. It had function issues, an underweight recoil spring, a wonky backstrap, and poorly supported chamber among numerous other inconveniences. Robar did a lot for me with that pistol, but it more than doubled the price. I have shot several 1911s in 10mm, the XDM line, Tanfoglio Polymer Match, and a few others, and the stock G20 was easily my least favorite of the ones that cycled properly. Sig indicated that the Xten would have frame compatability with the .45, I hope so. I have a .45 frame and would like to see if it works with it. Right now, my favorite 10mm is my Springfield TRP Operator 6". It is a track driver! I am excited to compare shooting that great looking Sig, the S&W M&P, and the XDM Elite.

As bulky as they are, my 10mm Glocks have never given me an issue. I just wish someone made a concealable 10mm. Ive been carrying a G20 for a few months & come to realize that its simply too large. I just bought a Hellcat Pro until I find a 10mm I can actually carry comfortably & trust.

@Dale Ross - Settle down before you have a stroke. Glocks have been around for 40 years and have proven their reliability over and over again in that time. Like it or not, they are the standard that others are compared to. SIG releases a similar pistol in what is a brand new, unproven platform and it is natural and reasonable to ask the question. If you have an emotional reaction to that, that means you have no faith in your answer that it will last. I have used Glocks in law enforcement for a number of years. I have also used my 10 mm as a backwoods gun on numerous occasions both on hunting trips in Alaska as well as regular camping trips. You also have to acknowledge that the P320 series has had some crazy teething pains. I certainly would not trust it with my life or anyone else's. Usually people that have problems with Glocks have played with them far too much and changed too many parts out for them to be reliable anymore. Ironic that you complain about Glocks being cheap pistols when SIG got their contract based on how cheap their pistol was.

I've shot Glocks for 22 years and sigs for 15. Only had one glock break and that was a 22 in 40 s&w. After about 8,000 rounds. 15,000 rounds out of my sigs combined. Both companies are great in my opinion, but not perfect. Let's just be real here and admit both do good work.

@@jordansvennes5587 - Yeah, I used a Glock 22 going through POST and had issues with it as well. It never should have been loaned to me. But the big deal about the 320 variants that I don't like is that they are built to a price point. That makes me worry about reliability and longevity.
@jordansvennes5587

@@rickgrimes931 It is a concern. I honestly feel like the 320s won't last as long as a glock in the bigger calibers but hey that's a wild guess. I have put 2000 rounds through a 320c in 45acp and it's ran flawless.

I really want to trust the P320 X-Ten as I’m a big Sig guy. But….I can’t trust a gun that hasn’t been out a year and tested for reliability. If I’m face to face with a bear I can’t “hope” they worked all the kinks out. Plus there are reports of gun jams. I’m sure they will get worked out but for big game defense it simply has to work. 🤷‍♂️

Should have made it a little smaller. At the size of the Glock model 20 or build a mid size that holds 13 rds something similar to a Glock 19 or compact Sig. Of course it would be a little thicker but still this one seems too big. That’s why I won’t be buying one.
