My dad had the P365 and I just thought it was too small. Just recently bought an XL for myself and LOVE IT! and I'm so accurate with it!

I've been carrying the 365 for about a year now. Recently saw the 365xl at the local gun store and loved the feel. So I ordered the 365xl grip module from Sig and made my own 365x. I now have best of both worlds. Takes me 2 minutes to change it when I want.

I have owned and shot P365, P365x and P365xl. I must say that the P365x is the best of all three. It combines the concealable of the P365 but the more comfortable shooting experience of the P365xl. Truly the goodie locks of P365.

I run the P365xl as my EDC. I wanted a full palm grip, which I didn't get with the P365 without the mag, and I absolutely love it. Great that it came with the RDS cut standard and I run a HS507K. It's a great all purpose carry option.

Kim did a great job explaining all the little nuances between the P365 and P365XL. Probably by far the best video I've seen on the P365 comparisons. It would be great to see a P365X vs P365XL review by Kim so that it takes the grip module out of the equation as they are the same.

There is a third option now in the P365X. Has the same frame as XL but shorter slide of original. I tend to us my 365 as a pocket carry gun in a kydex pocket holster, often as a bug so went small for versatility. As a primary carry the XL would probably be a better option for most. Also the original is the only version without optics cut if that matters to anyone.

Thanks for a very good comparison. It's great that there are options with this little blaster! I'm a 6ft, 200lb man with avg/large hands, but since I pocket carry, I have the tiny P365 (with safety, BTW) and have a regular 10rd in the gun, even though the meat of my hand interferes with the mag drop. For a reload, I carry a 17rd mag. That tiny mag release requires practice and I will be looking into an aftermarket part.

I carry the 365X and it’s a great gun. Your review is spot on.

For a quick reload with the xl try running 11 rounds in your extra mag. Makes a big deference in seating the mag.

Good review thanks. I upgraded from the 365 to the XL about 2 yrs ago & love it! Never regretted it for a minute. The Romeo 0 optic is a nice/fun inexpensive option too.

love my XL, feels more compete than the X or the 365, the slightly longer barrel length rlly does make the difference in overall feel.

I carry the XL. I chose it over the regular last year. It’s one of those rare firearms that felt great in my small hands.

Current carry is glock 43x with shield arms 15 round mag. On really hot days(florida) u pocket carry a ruger lcp2. Looking at picking up a sig to add to the rotation.

I have the RXP Xcompact P320 which gives me the capacity, but for EDC, the compact P365 12 rd with plus 1 is a perfect carry for me

Sig does offer the flat trigger kit, with flat trigger shoe and new trigger spring, to upgrade the 365 to the XL trigger.

It worth watching just to see Kim!

Great comparison review. It’s worth noting that everyone that I spoken to that is currently carrying a P365 will enthusiastically recommend getting P365 XL. The longer slide-barrel actually makes it easier to carry and the optics cut makes it a way better pistol. The XL has all of the latest improvements that Sig added to this pistol, why get less than?

I like the better concealability of the p365. It is my edc. I am very accurate with it and can hardly even feel it when wearing it.

The P365 fits in my Alabama Front Pocket Holster, and conceals very well. But the size of your gun does matter - I enjoy firing my CZ-75 a lot more than the P365 pocket gun.

Going down this path myself. Bought the XL to replace a Glock 43 as the alternate carry gun. Normally carry a 1911, but am interested in something smaller. So far, this XL has a chance to become the main carry gun, as I like the size, and shoot it almost as well as the 1911, which I haven't done with any other handgun to date. But I am going to try the Romeo Zero on it just to see how that goes.

Check out the P365X. Everything good about the XL only in a more compact, concealable form factor for smaller hands. Best of both worlds.

Of the grip is slippery or too small for you get the Hogue grip. Plus if you have small hands reverse the mag drop to the other side. Hit it with your middle finger without breaking your grip. Cheers!

I pocket carry the P365 with either the 10 round or 12 round mags (depending on what I'm wearing), but with a Magguts +2 extender kit, so they're now 12+1 and 14+1, but only 1/8" longer than without the kit. You can't reduce to the smaller mag with the P365XL, so the original P365 is often easier to pocket carry. I've also upgraded its trigger to the Sig flat trigger, so my P365 is almost identical to the P365XL other than for barrel length. And because the barrel length of either the P365 or the P365XL is really too short for dependable hollow point expansion (unless possibly the perp you're shooting at has no clothing on), I use 90 gr. +P Underwood Xtreme Defender, which is 1,475 FPS and 435 FPE (or maybe the even lighter and faster and more powerful 68 gr. 1,800 FPS and 489 FPE XD load), so they're faster and more powerful than almost all 115 gr. or 124 gr. +P loads, but a bit less snappy due to their lighter weight. Since with pocket carry an optic isn't practical on any version of the P365, I've mounted the Sig laser, and it's amazing how quick your target acquisition is with just that. One last thing: I can use the Sig 15 round mag in my P365, but since it's so long, I keep it in my back pocket as a spare, so I'm carrying a total of 30 rounds.

Do the guns share the same mags?

I shot the P365XL at my local range and liked it a lot. I shot it well enough (I could manage the recoil even though my palms were sweaty as all get-out, although my shots were low to the left with both the XL and the G19), and was able to rack the slide using the push-pull method. I liked almost everything about the original P365 in 9mm (they had one for sale) except for the fact that I couldn't rack it even with the push-pull method. Should I stick with the XL or maybe try the P365-.380?

Just as important as "barrel length" is magazine insertion "thrusting force"!! It's gotta be seated firmly!! ;-)

I would choose the XL. Can the flat trigger be replaced with a standard curved trigger?

In MA, the magazine size is restricted to 10 rounds so I don't have the option of the XL. My hands are small anyway so that's fine.

I got a P365 now and I regret it. The grip is just too small. My next carry gun is going to be the p320 m18.
