I own several models in the P365 series as well as several models in the GX4 line-up. I still prefer the Sigs, but the GX4 series is on a whole new level for Taurus and they've delivered a fine product. My personal opinion about the Comp version of the X-Macro is that the slide cuts serve more for appearance than function. I believe the shorter barrel vs. the longer barrel on the Taurus makes a difference. The Sig sights are great as-is. I kept the factory rear sights on all of my GX4s and replaced the front sight with Tritium. It's hard to be disappointed with any in the GX4 line.

I could easily see the difference in the muzzle rise as you were shooting. Pretty impressive for Taurus.

I own both the original GX4 and the new Carry version....I highly recommend the Carry as your EDC, and the GX4 as a viable option as a back-up. I currently own five Taurus handguns. A G2C in .40 S&W, a G3C, and G3 in 9mm, as well as the two GX4 variants, both in 9mm as well. If Taurus were to manufacture a .380 version of the GX4, I'd trade my S&W M&P Bodyguard for the Taurus .380 version.

My G3C was my EDC until I got the gx4 carry, which is now my EDC. GX4 is a bit thinner than the g3c, but slightly longer. Longer barrel means more power and accuracy than the g3c. Shot 1000's of rounds through both with no issues. GX4 carry ate brass, steel case, zinc case, reman ammo, no issues. Ate 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr no problems. When picking up my GX4 carry, other customers at the gun store saw it and bashed on it, stating that Sig P365 is a better gun. Sure, why not... but my gx4 carry works fine for half the cost.

I have owned Sig 365's and versions of the GX4 line. Neither of them compare to my current EDC of about 6 months. I carry the IWI Masada Slim. Amazing gun!!! In fact, I bought one of your holsters for my Masada. 13 rounds, full grip, optic cut, IWI quality. Got if for less than $400. Also accepts CZ75 magazines. Would love to see you guys do a review. I appreciate the comparison! I had the opportunity to purchase a couple of 365's . I thought, save bucks for ammo, buy the Taurus. After a mag or two of familiarity I routinely knock the 8 inch plate rack, target shooting, at 30+ yards. I shot the GX4XL better than my long time carry for offduty then CCW for the dicken drill on a C zone. Shocking, Very. I Love the GX4. My buddy wanted to know if I wanted his 365 at a great price, Nope, no kidding. I have owned Sigs since the 90's , still do, the magazine cost is just Too much for me to get excited about having to buy More overpriced magazines. YES , Boy did that 365 Snap!

Great review, was interested in comparing the grip length, you mentioned it but didn’t really show any close up. Although they are close, is one longer than the other? I have the x macro and the grip is a little hard to conceal, wondering if the Taurus is less or more than the x macro. Thks

Great review! Thank you. I own a Glock 19 Gen 5, an Sig P365, a Taurus G3XL, Springfield 5.25 competition, (not a carry pistol!) and a S&W M&P 2.0 Compact w/ an optic ready 4 inch barrel. I like them all! Now I may get the GX4 Carry! They are all fun to shoot! With all these I usually carry my Dan Wesson V-Bob 1911 in 45 ACP! I think I may need therapy! LOL😂

What if we do the PDP-F vs the X-macro? Also any issues with the Sig on malfunctions? I'm glad Taurus has stepped up their game!

I bought both the P365 & P365XL pistols. No rust issues either, at least for now. Both have Wilson Combat grip modules. I don't like the squishy trigger pulls on either one. Installed the Tactical Trigger mod on my P365XL and it is better, but still don't like it as much as my Shield Plus 3.1" barrel or the PC 4" ported barrel with fiber optic sights. I've shot thousand of rounds through each series and although the Sigs shoot good and do fairly well, I like the Shield Plus pistols better. Both have their pro's & con's, but the Shield's triggers are fantastic with crisp trigger breaks at about 4 pounds. Love the Shield's fiber optic sights so much I put Dawson fiber optic sights on my P10C. Thanks for the review.

William Cassidy Bought one 5 days ago based on several videos with positive comments. The one I got stinks. After trying about 300 dry firing trying to break it in, took out a second time, no change at all. I've owned about 35-40 guns over the last 15 years, all the popular ones, favorite right now is a Canik Rival. Looking to trade this soon.

Simulate an emergency where you imperfectly pull the trigger and press it to the left as you pull it. Many will fail to reset-just search GX4 reset fail on KZfaq. I really wanted to like the underdog here as I love a good value.

If the slide on the gx4 carry is the same as the gx4xl, I think there may be trouble with Glock sight compatibility. In the xl, there is a recess in the top inside of the slide where the screw hides, but not wide enough for a Glock front sight tool to fit and fully screw down a hex head Glock front sight screw. I tried with mine and wasted $100.

I have an original GX4 and the thing is been awful. I have sent it in to be “fixed” twice now. When I first got it, it wouldn’t go in the battery by itself and the trigger was 17 pounds. When I got it back, they had reduce the trigger to around 8 pounds, which is still heavy and the thing still won’t fully go in the battery under its own spring pressure without cycling from the gas, unless you force it. I just received it back for the second time I sent it in because the catch that interacts with the seer broke off. That piece breaking is just obscenely dangerous because I could’ve been carrying when it broke and there is no excuse for it.

I've got a 365 SAS with a Sharp's Bro's aluminum grip module and it's got about the same amount of snappiness as your Macro. I'm considering putting on a Icarus grip module and a Sharps slide. Ported with the comp will probably be a nice combo

Part of the snappiness may have to do with the optic on the slide with the sig. It adds about 1oz of reciprocating mass. You might want to try both with either optics on or off. I do agree though I shot the original GX4 and Sig macro Comp and found the taurus to be about the same if not more controllable than the sig.

Man, that Taurus looks like it shoots great ! Not any muzzle rise.

The one thing I'm not a fan of in all the newer SIG pistols is that their grips are too vertical and I'm used to shooting handguns with more of a Glock grip angle.

What do you think about the GX4 Carry’s mag release button? I was all set to buy one but the mag release was way too light for my taste. Had to reject it. A regular GX4 at the shop was no better.

Being a smaller guy from south Florida, I believe the grip length on the carry would be to long, shorts ant t shirts here. I love my GX4XL, I carry it with the 11 round mag, and 3 more 13 rounders on the belly band, does not print at all even at the beach on a windy day.

Do you happen to know of any holsters for the gx4 carry?

I bought an original GX4 same day as a Hellcat Pro and was surprised it actually shot better. I concluded its because it sits in hand more Glock-like and the Hellcat's trigger is too stiff.

Do you think the Gx4 would work in a macro holster? I have a Gx4 and very hard to find a holster thanks

Have to agree here. Taurus has done something pretty special with this model. It shoots like a much larger gun, is super comfortable, has a very clean trigger with a silly short reset. I've got 200 rounds through it so far, no failures. What I think is most surprising is how well it manages recoil. I have larger, more expensive guns that have much more noticeable recoil than this. Overall, extremely impressed. I see no reason whatsoever to spend more on a Hellcat pro, or 365 Macro. If your not going with an optic, I would upgrade the sights. They're just OK. So even with a set of sights, which are Glock doves, and another mag you're still under $500 bucks.

Good comparison. I have the G4. Bought it at Scheel's about 3 weeks ago $450. Now it's $400 with black Friday coming. Kinda pissed me off to. Because I asked them if they were having a sale on it. The XMacro non comp is mid $600 there. Wish I would have paid the other $200 now. Overall the G4 is fun to shot. Put a Amerglo sights on the front. But had a couple of failure to extract with my reloads. Well dry firing it the other day. I noticed the slide wasn't going into full battery after being racked. And cocked. I also have a TX22 compact. Love it. It's my main CC gun. But I have a feeling with more miles put on the G4. The more issues are going to arise.

I have always been a fan of Taurus products... Solid VALUE... Not necessarily superior quality, but always priced fairly and I've found them to be reliable. Im a Smith and Wesson guy, but I believe in value above brand loyalty...

I don't like the overly vertical grip angle on these modern SIGs. They cause me to shoot too low. The angle on the GX4 is just right.

I also own both of these firearms. The GX4 Carry wins in my professional opinion with a lot of extra funds leftover for the Meprolight Bullseye optic and additional mags.
