For the past 3 weeks my absolute favorite Sigma lens has been the 60-600 DG DN OS Sports on my a6700. It covers the 70-150 deficiency. So in combination with my ZV-E10 and my Tamron 17-70 this pair of APSC cameras and lenses are a dream.

I have never used a better 28mm, it is completely flawless, no coma, very little vignetting at 1.4, unbelievably sharp corners. I'm not surprised they haven't done a DG DN 28mm, the DG HSM 28mm is perfect.

Shame camera gear is so expensive. I dont like being stuck with canon lenses. I wonder if I should stay with canon for a while longer or try nikon or sony. Having looked at pricing for a while now, it looks like sony always has some kind of deal going on while canon really only has black friday and small cash backs... That being said, switching systems would still be a big investment.

I purchased the old *20 1.8* for DSLR just last year and it is very sharp overall. Wide open it is absolutely usable (with huge vignette, that's true) and from 2.8 it is razor (in the centre for sure). Bought it mostly for video (due to vignette, I often have to make +0.3 expo compensation, LOL), but it is insanely fun for photos too! With minimum focusing distance of only 20cm it gives astonishingly unreal perspective with an ocean of bokeh! Canon (which I'm a user of) still has nothing similar. And, of course, this lens is really cheap for what it's worth! Around $150 for a copy in good condition is nothing for what it delivers!

I have several Sigma lenses, a couple of ART wide angles, a brilliant 150mm macro and a super-wide zoom. My favourite, though, is a 60-600mm zoom. It's an utterly brilliant lens, super sharp, excellent autofocus and the massive range means you can take it as your only lens when out shooting wildlife. It's very heavy at 3.7kg, but OK to carry if it's the only lens you need. If I took a more normal 150-600 I'd likely also need to carry something to bridge the gap up to 150mm.
@pierrevilley6675
@pierrevilley6675 Ай бұрын
Hand holding a 3.7kg lens doesn't seem like something enjoyable, i used to have a 120-300 F/2.8 OS which was already pretty heavy (3.2kg), but i was willing to compromise for the 2.8 aperture, the fact that it is an internal zoom, and the fact that it was dirt cheap (500€ used). But carrying a 3.7 lens just to have a wider wide end ? No thanks, personnaly i almost never need wider than 200mm when shooting wildlife, and when i do it is to shoot macro or lanscape, so 60mm isn't that usefull for me. Besides, the 60-600 is pretty expensive no ?
@jonford6119
@jonford6119 Ай бұрын
@@pierrevilley6675 Hi Pierre, well, I can manage holding the lens on my Canon 6d for several hours, but I agree it's not for everyone. My daughter can't really use it as it's just too heavy for her. For my personal shooting I do often take wider, context shots, so for me, it's very useful having the massive range. We're all different, and what suits one photographer might not suit another. Everything's a trade off. And yes, it is an expensive lens. In my case, I bought it second hand and traded a couple of other lenses in for it, to get the cash purchase cost down. I got mine from MPB, in the UK, a good used photo kit dealer.

Nice video as usual Chris! :) I personally own multiple Sigma ART lenses, and I've also used their older early 2000's lenses. The ART lenses are on ANOTHER level! I feel that they offer incredible value for money and superb image quality. Often only matched by lenses twice the price. If only they could find a way to reduce the weight a little, we'd have a 10 out of 10. But that's only a minor niggle.

They are also the only manufacturer providing the market with the 180mm/2.8 macro 1/1 lens. If i remember well, before 2000. Now in it's third execution. I had the first manual version. A highly specialized and superb optic. Also they are the first to produce a tele zoom ending at 300mm and providing a constant f/2.8 aperture. The Canonikon corp took ten years to replicate it and at 3X the price.

I bought my first Sigma zoom lens in the mid 1980s in Singapore. At that time, the only virtue it had was its price which was well below first party lens prices. I still have it and it performed at its price level, which I suppose is not saying much. However, I'm glad to see that Sigma quality has improved in leaps and bounds, and matches if not exceed some first party lenses. Oh, in the mid 1980s, their lenses were lighter and smaller than some 3rd party lenses such as the Vivitar Series 1 zoom lens which I still have.
