On pay raise, I agree on having a non confrontational conversation and if management does not offer something good then politely and clearly explain that all extra duties will be done only if promoted or there is overtime and then quietly start looking for an alternative job if still not satisfied. Sometimes its about not having any leverage and management does not have to be ethical especially if they believe that they can let you resign and then hire a replacement and pay them entry level salary. You need to be so valuable that they see how much productivity and efficiency they will lose if you leave... not all employers compensate or reward 'loyalty'...

@Simon. Can you kindly advise the best way to approach a package negotiation at the time of being appointed into a position from the employees and employers perspective? I’ve only recently discovered you and interestingly one of things I do naturally to engage people is build trust - watching your videos has helped me to understand both the importance and impact of it. You’re an excellent communicator- thank you for all you do.

I have a question. Generally, why do companies have such short tenures (1-2 yrs)? What do you believe may be the driving force behind this trend?

I request your valuable views on this question on my mind sir: you have profoundly talked about Microsoft in your book start with why but we saw the massive layoffs by the company recently in the start of the year, of course you can say that Bill Gates has left and the why has gone fizzy but do you really think Gates would have prevented that downsizing

What would you do if management only applies for extra remuneration for members of management and ignore level 1 teachers who do the most work? And have more working hours ??

Hello Simon i have tried to send you this question through several platforms. What is success for you? How do you define it. What are your thoughts on that? For example you have talked about happiness and joy. Thank you!

Question: in a technical position, when your reporting to a leader who isn't skilled (or interested) in what you do, how do you build that relationship so that it's productive? Halve the time I have absolutely no oversight and the other it's intense micro management. When I need something or have to make a decision to do my job it's considered irrelevant and then have to fight for it. I ask as I'm a subject matter specialist & consider myself an expert in my field. But I'm struggling to be successful as an evangelist to those who really don't like the job I have (and love) to do. Specifically to unskilled leadership people. Any advice? Note for context: This is especially evident to me in orgs run and managed by non techies. They promote 100% based on trust in leadership ability. Being a people person but lacking knowledge, the leader end up becoming a crutch for the SLT and c-suite. the team limp thru the development of the product and the customer either gets a late product and or one with issues

In my understanding, a lot of such managers solely rely on KPI. What helps is to establish a comfortable dialogue and interaction to challenge KPI vs business goals, and also learn what are the most important metrics, and explain how your ideas will help to improve these metrics and what benefits vs cost they will bring.

I am asking for advice: I have been struggling with finding myself in a toxic environment for 1.5 years. I finally decided to find a job and quit (and get out of the toxic environment, for me!). I now have two offers and a couple of promising interviews. None of them match the requirements of my dream job. I'm trying to figure out if accepting one of the offers would be the right decision? Or wait and see. But although I am VERY eager to leave my current environment. Would appreciate your advice 🙏🙏🙏

My question is, how do you manage up? I am in a position where I have more technical and procedural expertise than my new boss. And there are certain things she doesn't understand the need for. How do I teach her without coming across as a know-it-all?

He clearly has no experience when someone is completely useless and get promoted/side shifted into a senior position. This happens a lot in England, maybe not in America but I doubt it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
