Kane is just content to be at a mediocre team where the best he'll get is a League Cup. That's the reason he missed that penalty - he's never been regularly put through the ruthless pressure of being in a top class team and important moments.

The pressure was just too much for Harry. He's one of the most reliable penalty takers in world football. When the pressure was lesser, earlier in the game he scored the pen as usual, side netting: perfect pen. At 2-1 down with 10 mins to go, to keep your country in the tournament.. he couldn't deal with it. I hope he recovers from it, and stays at Spurs. If he leaves and wins a trophy it won't be the same.. if he wins a trophy there he'll be cemented as a legend for overcoming his challenges

Spurs fan here, you made some good points. However when you say "a trophy" with all due respect winning the Epl or Ucl are the only trophies worth winning nowadays. Btw I'm not biassed as I love the the two domestic cup competitions.

@@mistereuro4738 it's possible. Who expected Spurs to get to the UCL final a fee years ago. Conte does great things when you give him time and investment. When he took over at Juve they were recently promoted from Serie B and he won 3 titles in a row, setting them up with the foundation to win another 6 consecutive league titles. No one saw it coming prior, and no one can see Juventus doing that since then.. especially not now. Look at his tenure at Inter and Chelsea as well. I never liked his playstyle but he wins titles. He knows how to win and in football that's a valuable commodity.

When you have a forward who's on the back of defenders ,you actually are helping your defence out a lot more ,it means there defence are hanging back and are not in our side of the pitch ,if they had someone like Wilson ,sat on the haftway line who can run ,the opponents defence are occupied and under pressure

Griezmann was playing the Kane role for France but then France had Giroud to get on the end of the balls into the box. I remember when Shearer was Englands number nine he was getting wide and putting balls in and people were saying we need another Shearer to get on the end of Shearers crosses. Its the same for Kane

Surely Kane dropping deep is more down to the manager? A tactically astute manager would be someone who makes damn sure that Kane is in the box where we need him! I remember a clip where Rooney kept dropping deep and Sir Alex was having kittens on the sideline, screaming " ROONEY!!!! GET FORWARD!" Did anyone see Southgate doing that? At one point, Kane was practically playing wing back! Sir Alex was of course, a born winner who knew how to get the very best out of the players at his disposal...

In my opinion I see it that Kane isn't disciplined enough to hold his position. He wants to get involved in the build up play which I get and tbf he does create but unlike before we now have enough quality in midfield that he dosent need to be there.

To add to the almighty pressure of that penalty, keeping your country in the World Cup, as capatin, against his club mate keeper, there was an extra amount on top of if he scored, becoming England's top scorer. HK is normally cool, calm & collected but that moment sure got to him.

Harry Kane is forced into this style of play by a club coach and international coach that refuse to play a quality number 10 behind him. Playing 3 CMs (or arguably CDMs) as England do and Spurs do, forces Harry's hand.

Yeah definitely for England he shouldn't be dropping that deep regularly tbh, England are a more dominant team & play lesser opposition most times as opposed to what he has to and has had to do for Spurs in the last few years, especially when he isn't playing with 2 speedsters on either side (Rashford and Sterling) as they said there's a balance & he needs to get it right for England

Kane was brilliant on the night. Rolled that centre half non stop. Great link up play too. Penaltys get missed.. we had 15 mins to score in open play after and didnt. Was still time. As a Liverpool fan I acc love Harry Kane his attitude and discipline in the game is amazing. People tend to forget at 21 years old he scored 21 times and assisted twice in the 2014 season. But once again the British tabloids adding attention and pressure on his career just made his performances decline over the years. I do think HK is absolutely perfect for Bayern or Juve. Stylistically he suits into those sqaud better and with the quality of talent around him he would be flying. Personally he needs to go he deserves trophies this guy's probably the best English striker we've had in 20 years. His next 2 seasons are going to be under a scope and hes only going to fold deeper in the UK after the WC exit. So bro go u deserve to be fighting for league titles and golden boots in my personal opinion his whole careers been ruined by UK tabloids and levy

Harry will be scared for life after that miss. He never shows up in the big games. No wonder the elite world clubs haven't come in for him.. there are better strikers out there. More consistent ones too.
