This is such an embarrassing story as is Harry Maguire's mum going public in his defence! Once I turned 18 I could always go to my dear late dad for advice and even solace but I would never want him to speak on my behalf and he would never do that. @@theach84 but the point is, if Aaron can’t handle the competition then he should sacrifice his 120k a week and drop down a level to a lower PL club, with less at stake and less competition for places, who will only be able afford to pay him not even half that if he wants to be guaranteed a starting place, let’s see how much the first team football REALLY matters to him

Many of them, who've made it as far as they have, were good enough to not be rejected at academy level and are used to getting what they want. That's why someone like CR7 couldn't handle it when he was dropped. He's never had it in his career.

There’s no way these players go through decades at academies without ANY adversity, without competition, without being challenged, without even understanding the ruthless nature of football that nobody is immune to. I still think he should've told his dad to wind his neck in though. Ramsdale himself has been a consummate professional in terms of what he's shown the cameras and press. I assure you that other players struggle with it too, but keep it to themselves. You still see it, every now and then, when players get subbed off.

Seen some guys doing a repair job on the roof of a warehouse a few days ago, it was raining and whipping gale force winds ones drilling on top of the scaffolding then screaming his nonsense at colleagues down below. @@AlvenmodFotoRamsdale was always a concern for me, prone to howlers, can't kick, as soon as a player runs him down it's a 50:50 chance he gets caught out. The reason he came out of last season smelling of roses is because Arsenal were very good last year. This is a goalie relegated on multiple occasions. What he needs to do is pull his socks up and get back in the team.

I was a bemchwarmer GK for a lower league club and ended up doing the non league scene to pay myself through uni. I also had an overbearing dad living vicariously through me, nothing would be more embarrassing than when I'd see he'd be on the fans forums arguing with the fans after I had a bad game. And that was for a Northern Prem side, I can't even imagine how embarrassing it must be for Ramsdale

I don’t get why parents do this. That said, by not being transparent with Ramsdale from the beginning Arteta invited problems into the dressing room.

This is true, if the man is 2nd choice just tell him, not this BS about, I don't have a first choice. My worry is not only Ramsdale, but the squad. It's all well and good to want to have players fighting, but what happens when players start thinking, "Hang on, if Arteta can lie to Aaron's face and get him to sign a contract only tobuy his replacement a month later, what can happen to me"

@@benjamindadzie9657 Logically, would you sign a new contract if you were told that you would be second choice. Probably not. Also, most fans were not that attached to Leno as they are to Ramsdale. I also don't think Leno was treated fairly but hey. Look I'm not here force Ramsdale back into the team (like I can even do that) but I can understand the feelings of many Arsenal fans about this decision. Ramsdale was incredibly popular and is actually a very good GK. Is Raya better, Arteta thinks so, which I trust, but then again he's also the one who keeps playing Havertz. So yeah lol

It’s unprofessional his dad shouldn’t say anything because at the end of the day the player is responsible for what is said in the media and to be honest the manager doesn’t rate him otherwise he would be playing simple

The regularity of it as well. If it’s going to affect the playing group it shouldn’t be said. A father defending his son is fine alone but he consistently comments on the happenings at Arsenal, this is not an isolated incident it’s just starting to get worse.

John Fury speaks on Tyson Fury's behalf on a thrice daily basis. But that's boxing. Aaron Ramsdale's dad is obviously a bit of a character. Plus he gives us an added insight into the world of a professional sportsman. Weren't we entertained by Erling Haaland's dad and his antics towards rival fans during the Champions League? Simon Jordan isn't a professional sportsman. Aaron Ramsdale's father's point of view is no less valid than Jordan's!

Once a parent always a parent,it's natural to defend your own, but if I was Ramsdale junior, I would tell my father to leave me get on with it,as an adult figure it out.
