Parametric acceleration of the golf club "handle" is The 🗝 key to this entire video..... great explanation and part of the Finish swing that's hardly ever discussed.

Excellent video! Lower body movement is not talked about enough and how it helps us with the lateral move, rotation, and posting up. Thanks, keep up the great work.

Actually, a year for a major swing change is really pretty good.

I’ve been looking for this! My golf partner (she’s 77 years old, playing off 13) has a half swing and I notice she has a sort of ‘back and back again’ half backswing. I’ve tried to copy but I think she’s doing what you suggest with the handle. I’ll give it a try. I’m 70 and feel more comfortable with a shorter swing even though I still turn my shoulders well. With a half swing I don’t need to look for the damn slot! At our handicaps we don’t need hugely long shots. Thanks for explaining this concept so clearly.

Jon! An excellent explanation on how to gain a little more distance by "whipping the clubhead" through the ball. This is something that I have been working on and it seemed to work in yesterday's round. Keep up the good work. Your videos are always informative!

A clear, easy to follow helpful video. I am 78 years old. Should I be trying to follow this advice? Some videos are geared for younger fitter players rather than old age pensioners with a drive averaging only155 yards. Thank you.

Hi Alan, cocking and downcock if your wrists correctly I believe you could do at any age. Moving the handle up will encourage your lead side to extend and rotate more, so the effectiveness of this would depend on mobility of the golfer but some is better than none 👍🏻 also straightening the body puts less pressure on joints then maintaining flex in the lead knee and having it move too much towards the target!

Excellent video, the hands over the ball was an eye opener for me. Great to see the wrist angles and clubface as they slowly go through the ball too, would love to see more on the release in more detail especially facing the camera - something I’m still a bit unsure about 👍

I have found that I get my speed above 108 mph by not holding the angle coming down as you suggest, but just swinging arms as fast I can and focus on getting left hand ahead of the golf ball, with loose wrists but a firm finger grip on the club. I'm 60 and can get 110 mph doing this. If I try and hold angles I top out at 102-103 mph.

Interesting, worth seeing if the real is the same as the feel on camera. I’m not suggesting holding angles however, my video is about releasing at the right point to max speed at impact plus the handle rising into impact 👍🏻

Great video, well explained for a new player like myself. When extending the left leg/side of body, how do maintain the angle of the upper body at impact?
@TruGolfAcademy
@TruGolfAcademy 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! When the lead side moves up and left the trail side should move down and forwards to collect the ball (creating the correct body angles) the whole body should rise just post impact.

The most difficult part for me (with all my clubs) is when I see my hands moving closer to ball my brain says "you're never going to be able to get the clubhead to the ball quickly enough" and I flip too early. No problem with the practice swings, but completely different with a ball there. Also, I think clubhead speed is over emphasized - I think the biggest factor in gaining distance is acceleration through impact. I've hit 300 yards a few times, and several in the 270 - 280 range, and I'm sure my clubhead speed isn't over 110 mph.

Yeah it’s not all about clubhead speed, you have to hit the middle to pass the speed to the ball and optimise launch angle and spin. But it sure helps having the speed 👍🏻
