After watching your floor heat videos I appreciate the simplistic approach. I recently bought a house with a crawl space and no floor insulation under there. I plan on installing this type of system before insulation and encapsulation. I really wanted to use the existing 50 gallon water heater. We will run this as primary heat through the first floor and have the gas furnace as a secondary system.

Looks like a pretty efficient system, and those surge protectors are a great addition. I’m still old school, I heat with coal. I’ve done it my whole life. Thanks for the video, be well my friend.

Kevin, I am in Michigan, we had the same very cold spell in January, we have a 1850 sq. ft. house, with basement, a foot of blow in insulation in the ceiling, or January bill was $320. That`s just the gas bill, furnace, hot water tank and gas dryer. I think you and Julie did quite well with this system, take care my friend.

Thanks for the review. If you could share the actual kwhs consumed or the $ / kwh would help give some context. Dollars alone aren't very clear to asses the technical effecicieny.

Great update Kevin. Yes a mixing valve just prevents you from scalding yourself at a sink. If you have 140 degree water at your heater it adds cold water to make the outlet water 110. Or whatever you set it at.

Sweet glad to hear the results of a few cold months. I would be interested to hear your experience when the weather gets hot. Will running cool water through the floors help the house to cool down?

I watched an installer explain why a floor thermostat is better than an air thermostat in in-floor heating systems. Long story short it results in less pump and boiler running as it monitors the slab not the air I guess you get faster results so use the system less....

How many square feet is it heating? I have always been a fan of an indirect tank for water heater systems. Full size boilers don't need them. Do you ever need more than one degree/hour heat increase?

I'm heating 960 Sq foot the heater will ran maybe 2 times a day in the 30s it will drop 2 degrees an then comes on.

@@rogerwhiting9310 -6 It came on about 6 times that day the highest electric bill I got was $215.00 for a month and I'm all electric.

@KevinRobinson6688 that's impressive. Super insulation ...especially in the ceiling is really the key. You are doing it right for sure.
