Sometimes the smallest things can feel like the ultimate upgrade after you have gone for so long without them! That is the case for us as we install stairs on our home after climbing up and down ladders for far too long!

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

Beautiful deck and steps guys. I love it when Erin shows flashback videos and proves Josh wrong every time. I think Leon is looking to take over Chuck's job. Chuck seems to be taking way to many sleeping breaks. Your closing was absolutely awesome Erin. You could write a book about your journey, you are really good.

The Wee One's taste in shoe style is a lot like my own. When folks comment on them as being a mismatch. I simply smile to myself knowing better. What the unenlightened don't know is. And you Erin, are living three versions of your life, between the first time, when you and Josh film, then again when editing your cuts, and finally when assembling your week's show. If you aren't using those stringer cutoffs for anything else, they make awesome wheel chocks. Just nail a few together and drill a hole for a rope.

Spraying is fine, but it needs to be done before wood is assembled, in order to fully protect the wood, even at the connection points. We used to do 3 coats of Sikkens before even taking the lumber to the job site. Then coat the cut areas during construction. By the way, I admire your overall project and y’all’s love for one another.

They used treated lumber… until it dries and the preserving residues have washed from the surface…. Sealing and or staining are not a good idea.

I would like to comment after watching your progress in the last two years by congratulating you on entertaining us, as well as teaching us. I'm a retired Manual Teacher [ after forty years] In a NZ high school and Poli Teach College. I haved loved every minute of it Just carry on so this 81 year old that still spends two days a week repairing and replacing equipment in two big work shops Keep it up both of you
