We tried to be careful as we worked to finish the farm fence around our septic system but we still hit the septic line.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

Always use dig marking tape in any services trench you install and aerial images from your drone, that way you can work out roughly where your conduit or pipe is and if you are off you should hit your marking tape before damage occurs. You were lucky 🍀👍

If y'all ever need to, you can pour a bag of DRY Portland cement, without mixing it, into a hole around a post. If there is only three or four inches of space on each side of the post, the cement will actually draw the moisture out of the surrounding dirt due to it's hygroscopic properties, and will then harden fully. Sometimes hauling out the mixer is just not feasible and this is an old concrete worker's trick. 😎

I have put many fence posts in the ground. The best method is to use a hydraulic post driver. You just drive the posts into the ground. No auger, no post hole digger and no filling in and packing the dirt around the post. The efficiency is amazing. The posts will be more solid, too!

Such a fabulous place for kids to grow up. In my 4th & 5th grade years we lived in farm country and therefore spent a lot of time on a neighbors farm always helping and partaking in farm life. Fond memories for me and my two brothers. Involved in picking stones up out of the been fields to putting hay in the loft, baling hay and milking cows. Yours kids are profiting so much from this style of life. Watching them grow and become more involved is a delight. Speaking of delight's your little girl is a super delight to watch. A little Miss Dr Dolittle. Loved her relationship with the turkey. Learning the realities of life as the livestock come and go another lesson well learned. I vicariously relive my short two years on a farm enjoying your videos. Best wishes for a healthy and happy 2022.
