Great video, Scott! Watched this during my lunch (i.e. a little KZfaq Lunch-And-Learn between work). For the first four tips I thought "I've seen these before, this is just a reminder video." Shortcut Keys and Filters are a very productive tool. "#3" deletes "E" archives. Combined with a filter that assigns a label(s), I can quickly archive, and apply the label *Urgent and review that folder later.

I'm going to try out the template feature. I've created a newsletter with colored borders and headers formatted in docs and saved as a signature. I use it as a template, activating by switching signatures. It's a hack but probably does the same thing as you showed.

Great tips as always, Scott. But the tool I use that is the "one ring to rule them all" is Superhuman. It sits on top of my Gmail box and accelerates my progress to inbox zero by 10x.

GREAT tips, thank you. One question, at video position 9:38 the message is sent and archived. Archived "where"? Is the option available where I can select where the message is archived to? I have several archive folders and I would like the option of selecting (for each message) where it is archived at.

If I remember correctly, the messages are archived to "All Mail"

IIUC, Gmail uses labels instead of "locations" or folders. Eg, there is a label called "inbox". Archiving is the absence of the inbox label. "All mail" is a search term that includes messages that are not "inbox'. At least, that's how i think about it...

If you want to archive it in a specific folder, add the label before archiving.

@@laurataylor8150 Correct. My habit has been to "move" messages into the appropriate label, but after your comment I realized I can just add the label. Then your point works perfectly. Thanks for pointing it out.

Absolutely, Bill. Using the search bar will bring results for all mail that have been archived.

For the most part, yes. But some also apply to mobile.

When you reply to an email and auto-archive an email and then you get another response to it, does it come back to your inbox?

Yes, that's correct. Unless you have a custom filter that makes certain emails skip the inbox, new emails will always be displayed within your Inbox.

Gmail keeps saving my emails as a draft, every 30 seconds. I have been getting text messages that are from email addresses, not phone numbers. I know they're spam but I clicked one to see what it is, and then my email started doing that. Virus scan says no virus. Ever heard of that?
