Thanks everyone for the love. Yes i’m still alive however remain extremely busy both day and night. This unfortunately restricts the ability to record on downtime. judging by the 4308 annunciator and chevron at 1:25, this building likely had 4050-80s on a 4208 at one point!

Good to see you back! And just in time for Back To School season! I wonder if that annunciator at the start was installed with the Simplex 4002 system? Older 4002 systems indeed used the same kind of annunciators often found on 2001, 4207 and 4208 systems.

Apparently older annunciators were commonly paired with the 4002. We just decommissioned a 4002 (in a building built in 1988), and it had a Simplex 2001 era annunciator (dated 1981), so I guess it was a common practice back in the day. Not sure why they would want to install obsolete parts in a new system considering the 4001/4002 had a far superior annunciator available at the time.

@@blitzbiker2001 My elementary school is the same, the system was a 4002 with the older style annunciator, I recently got the 4002 and 2001 style annunciator from the secondary building apart of the school, the main building had it's 4002 and 2903s replaced in 2016 =( the older 2001 annunciator had a new FireLite one slapped on top

@@blitzbiker2001 Probably to use up old stock. I've also seen a church built in 1986 with a Simplex 4001 system using a simple 4-zone 2001-style annunciator (only zone indicator lamps, no reset switch or anything).

Indeed. A building at my friend's university had a single-bay Simplex 4002 panel like that, but they replaced it in the mid-2010s with a Simplex 4007ES system, and they removed the Simplex 4051 horns and slapped TrueAlert horn/strobes (4906-9127s) onto the 4040-60 and 4050-80 light plates (before the 4002, the system was a Simplex 4208).

0:07 Interesting how the zone lights on that annunciator flash instead of illuminating solidly, like you'd expect from an annunciator of that era (unless the panel pulses them). Strange if you ask me how the 4903s skip every time the strobe flashes, which I _don't think_ should happen (perhaps they do when the jumpers on the back of the horn haven't been cut, AKA when they're set for 2-wire mode). Interesting how that school building still has its (probably original) 60s-era Simplex bells (which appear to have been mounted on top of previous signals that were behind grilles given the plates they're on). 2:09 Weird how that one 4903 sounds higher-pitched than the others (heck it almost sounds like it has a TrueAlert horn in it, unless it's one of those newer replacement 4903s that have TrueAlert horns). 2:47 Any idea what that red panel next to the 4002 is for? 3:08 Seems like the "POWER TROUBLE" & "GROUND TROUBLE" LEDs don't work.

0:07 Well the panel is a 4002 and the 4002 annunciator output is controlled by the panel so I'd expect that it is just showing what the panel is doing. 2:47 The red box could be a dialer box of some sort. 3:08 Simplex 4001s and 4002s don't illuminate their power or ground trouble lights when resetting because those don't go into trouble during a reset function. I hope this answers your questions.

@@pi243 0:07 I'm pretty sure connecting an older "analog" annunciator like one made for the 4207/4208 to a panel is impossible if the panel you're trying to connect it to only supports "digital" annunciators (those that use a serial cable instead of a pair of wires for every switch & indicator). 2:47 Yeah. 3:08 Given that what the panel does during a reset is essentially a lamp test shouldn't _all_ the LEDs illuminate to verify that they're all working as they should?

No. They trying to sync. Which the only way these can sync is by being set to 2 wire operation.

@@damaniwilliams8219They would sync properly if they were set to a coded circuit. These are not sync models. The sync model versions of these 9236s (which are 15cd) is the 9422.

They're skipping. These strobes are not syncable though.

What model is the annunciatior?

Its a 4300 series annunciator. Not sure which exactly as there isn't much as far as documentation goes

@@officialsimplexguy Simplex made them from 1972 up to at least 1990. They were commonly used on 4208, 4207, 2001 and early 4002 systems. There was also a smaller basic version used with early Simplex 4001 systems.

They aren't pulsing. They are set to continuous and the strobes are skipping. These alarms are obviously set to 2 wire operations which is why it's doing that.
