Actually it makes sense that Puncay is the first 120 runner to get a WR with carpetless. He may not have the highest peaks of the other 120 runners, but he's always in my opinion been the most consistent. So when a new trick like this finally came out, Puncay being the first to get a good enough run all the way through adds up. The others will pop off later, but the consistency man got it first. A WR is a WR imo; all those years of work payed off for this one, gg puncay!

Yep, that combined with the fact that he's been running the game for so long, he's the most likely to get a decent enough ending (RR, Bits, Throws). Even with the greatest of nerves, he's just been in that situation so many times - I think after that RR a lot of runners would have collapsed in BitS (he could only lose one cycle before WR was dead) but he played it about as well as he could have and clutched it out.

The craziest thing about this world record is that you could argue it wasn't *because* he hit carpetless, but *in spite* of it - given how much time Puncay lost in RR after doing carpetless basically first try. The added pressure may have ruined the rest of RR for him, whereas his time could've easily been 10 seconds faster (or more), had he done RR normally.

Remember back when people were joking about getting sub 1:41 in 120 star? Well this video alone with a whole intro, outro, and the entire run itself lasts only 1:39 That’s how you know that times are changing. Not to mention that this run literally uses carpetless. Well, to be fair: The new carpetless lets runners salvage badly paced runs, and it is by no means a small feat to do carpetless after an hour of a run and then complete the run with the nerves. Also, I will expect carpetless to show up in the next few World Records. It's more or less inevitable, so even though he's WR "because of carpetless", I think it's a bit more nuanced than that.

Eventually the runs will get a lot more optimized and runners will have to get a good pace even with carpetless, but that won't happen until the 1:36 is broken, for now they can get away with bad runs as long as they pull off the trick at the end of the run.

puncay got it because of all his experience and the ability to control his nerves. Pulling the trick off, finishing RR with many small mistakes but still getting it through and then keeping the nerves in Bits and during the throws is something that many less experienced players would screw up in the end.

(In this run he died at the first try, though) But after seeing this it was already obvious to me that he would get the wr sooner or later because it's the biggest time save found in a long time.

@@TheAnarchist99 this one was not the first. A few others have been on pace w/ carpetless. Not many, but Puncay himself, Liam, and at least another, but those attempts fell through before the end of the run. Mad props to carrying it through. Puncay getting the first carpetless 120 WR is the best timeline.

At 44:55 zero sugar sodas have no calories, taste wayyyyy better than the ones labled "diet" and you still get your caffeine. Most sodas have 50 g of sugar in it, i can tell you that what they put in zero sugar drinks is not worse than sugar. I weighed 240 pounds at 5'5 i quit sugar sodas and fixed my overall diet and i promise you, that zero sugar soda helped a ton
