I miss the days when you could go to Radio Shack and buy stuff like meters and signal tracers for 9 bucks.

Thank you. The 260 -5 that my electrician father got at his 1968 retirement had corroded from old batteries. It didn’t work when I went to use it after my digital meter failed. Checking KZfaq videos, your model 3 was almost identical to Dad’s. I’d already cleaned up the battery contacts and replaced the D battery ones by modifying a couple of Keystone 209’s. But the meter still didn’t work. Then I spotted the fuse. No current. So I’ll replace it, but unlike yours my 3AG 1 amp fuse pigtails into the circuit board. Wish it had a clip like yours, cuz I’m not the greatest solderer and now I’ll have to disassemble and get at the back of the board. I’m wondering also just how available pigtailed fuses are these days! ? Thanks again for the one video I needed. I’m off to search for pigtailed fuses …and some of your CRC electronics cleaner spray.😅

That is so cool thanks for sharing I am glad I could help you out good luck finding the fuse I would start with Ebay they will probably be the easiest place to get them...

@@TheElectronMan So, finding pigtailed ones in small quantities at a reasonable price isn’t easy. Why couldn’t I clip the old fuse’s leads at the fuse ends, get a single “block” holder (Cooper Bussmann BC6031B Glass Fuse Block, S-8202-1 300V, 20 Amp, 1 Pole), solder the leads to it, and just get a 1 amp AGC3 fuse to put in it? It wouldn’t have to be fastened down and there might be room for it. It’d be similar to your 260-3 fuse setup.

My buddy has a Triplett meter very similar to yours , his takes a battery that is aftermarket built or I could do a conversion to different batteries .... Me and Johnny love those old needle swingers ....

Sorry wished I had an extra one. Your best bet would be to check ebay find one a non working unit that has a good knob that you can pick up for cheap that and it gives you a lot of extra parts.

Hello my friend, 3 days ago I bought the same Simpson 260 Series 3 multimeter. Can you help me calibrate it, because in R*100 and R*1 the measurements are not correct. I tested the resistors with a Fluke 77 tester. Best regards.
