See • Simpson Dryer Belt Rep... for the right way to do this.
My method of going through the heater element is not the best way to do this.
How I replaced the belt on a Simpson EZIloader Clothes Dryer. Model 39P400M-V1
How many Man points should I be rewarded? Suggestions in the comments please.

Undo the bolt that connects the drum mate Then the drum just sits in there and makes life a whole lot easier👌👌👌

@@thettguy I think he means that instead of taking the heater unit out (5.15) you can see the bolt which holds the bearing to the drum. If you take it off you can separate the whole back panel (just unplug the heater) and then easily work with the drum and put the belt around it. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful for me to visualize my job on Tuesday (I have the same repair). Very useful thank you.

This also works with the 39P400M (no v1). The screws are 6.3mm so getting a spanner or socket would be well worth it. That makes it a lot easier than using a pair of pliers. When putting on the replacement belt, I found it easier to put the belt around the back of the drum then stand the unit up. Then gravity keeps the belt in place when you slide it over the drum. (You cant loop it from the front as it gets caught with too many things). Looking thru the vents on the back of the drum it was easy to line it up with the front, after looping the belt over. The rest is all here, very nice job, especially showing the removal of the heater, as I was reluctant to do this before watching this video. Based on the points by jtlevert +2 for having a go +2 for succeeding and saving the missus from getting her "lets just buy a new one" way +3 for making a video about it +1 for admitting your frying mistake But only -2 for not having an appropriate socket set/spanner 😀

Awesome work mate, i used 1/4inch bit to undo the panel screws. Also i did what the other comment said and removed the bolt (9/16" or 5/8" cant remember) that holds the drum to the back panel (i put a Phillips head screwdriver through one of the holes in the drum to stop the drum spinning). When i put it back together i simply put the drum in place, attached the belt and then put the back panel back on and bolted it together. Worked a charm and only cost me $29. Ill give you 29 man points.

Thanks heaps for this. Note don’t need to remove heater unit to access motor, pulleys and tensioner spring - just remove the rear air duct cover (white circle plate in other corner). Rear air duct inside just pulls out and bonus is less sharp edges. Thanks for the sharing the “man points”

No...I just replaced the plastic pulley on my dryer (exact same model) because the pulley had partly disintegrated, and I separated the back from the drum. I just undid the large nut on the drum axle then it is super easy to replace the belt. No drama.

Mine was an older model with the belt item code - 0198300010, but can confirm 0198300011 works fine also for older Simpson Eziload Not sure how your man point scale is, I think this is worth 8/10 Man points - good video and commentary to describe the process - tested out few ways via trial and error - got it working in the end!

Ignore this and watch the video by DIY Dump Rat. Be patient he has a lot of issues with his camera but the way he does the belt is the way repairmen do it. Much easier that this. Should take under 20 minutes. DIY Dump Rat is working a rescue from landfill and a lot of what he says is not relevant an appliance in good nick. Vacuum out any dust but should be no need to remove the drum. Put an old couch cushion or pillow underneath it to protect the door.

Sir, I have the same dryer, my pulley wheel has nothing to stop it pulling off effortlessly. Yours looks like it got some sort of circlip. Can't figure out why it doesn't have something to prevent it from coming off.
@thettguy
@thettguy 2 жыл бұрын
Mine also had nothing holding it on so I think that is normal.
@thettguy
@thettguy 2 жыл бұрын
It is weird because it has a recess in the shaft for some sort of clip. But it did not have a clip on it. I don't think it needs one.
@Aussie3225
@Aussie3225 2 жыл бұрын
@@thettguy thanks for your reply. It seems that the bearing can run anywhere on the spindal. I'm puzzled because if the belt gets slack, there's nothing to keep everything aligned. Surely a circlip or a sleeve would be warranted. Also the tension spring looks like it could pop out at anytime. Think I'll try a modification, something like nylon sleeves to align the bearing with the grooves in the motor shaft. Any thoughts? Thanks from Australia.
@thettguy
@thettguy 2 жыл бұрын
@@Aussie3225 My thoughts are don't worry about it. Mine has been running fine after this fix. The belt tensioner keeps that pully in place. The belt never gets slack un less it breaks. And then you have other problems anyway. And I think the spring clips on fine. But I am no dryer mechanic.!!

Anyone experienced a burning smell issue with one of these ? I took the back off and blew the whole inside with compressed air. I had a sniff of the heating element whilst it was on and it doesn't seem to be the culprit. So that only really leaves the motor... Any ideas ?
