G'day, just thought I'd make a video showing you how to fix the door button on your dryer when you are finding it very difficult to push in. Some times when you press the door button it won't go in at all. Well it's a pretty basic and very cheap DIY repair. This video is for Simpson, Electrolux and Westinghouse clothes dryers. Hope it helps.

Great video mate, thanks! You saved our dryer! I needed a face plate and the beige part was broken. I'm in Melbourne and got the parts from Appliance Spares Warehouse P/L 2/403 Princes Hwy Noble Park Vic 3174 They were super. Even sent the drawings of my dryer via email so I could figure out the right parts and only $33 for the three parts I needed.

Good job we saved another one 😎 I've ordered from sites like those before but usually find ebay easier and normally alot cheaper. As long as they get fixed👍

Very interesting video, have you ever thought about doing a video on replacing the pulleys/idlers on a Fisher & Paykel Dryer before?

Thanks mate, yeah I think I'll have to do one of those. The thing is I'm not sure I do it the correct way, so have been putting it off. Next one I have that requires a new idler I'll film it.

How do you replace the actual safety switch button. Do you have to separate the door? I’m struggling.

We had to replace the window which just cracked and shattered so we did that. Now the switch keeps popping out after a couple of seconds- doesn’t seem to ‘grab’ properly. Also noticed the door hinge seems a bit looser than before. If you hold the button in physically it will work. Do you think this is also a switch problem?

Update- I’ve unscrewed and removed the cover plate and now it’s working! Can I just leave the cover plate off indefinitely?

@@ozfamilyrobbo8590 yeah I was about to say sounds like the switch sticker plate is cracked or not on correctly. It has to be screwed on all the time. If you find you can't shut and lock the door withough removing it or loosening the plate this probably means your switch needs replacing. Dirt cheap I'd say 👍

@@ozfamilyrobbo8590 I've never actually had ato buy parts. Just used recycled parts from other machines. I just had a quick look on ebay for You. Sorry but I can't find one with just the striker plate on its own. Regardless you're probably better off getting a switch as well.
