Don't pay attention about how awful it feels etc. Say a brief, sincere, prayer to ask for help (the grace) to pray. You might do it more than once, as you can during the day. Then say other (informal) short prayers. Don't worry. Just keep chipping away. The ice will break.

As a mother of 4 who small fussy children, really the parents of these kids should step out when it was obvious they were not settling down. Sorry and I don't mean to be harsh but its inconsiderate.

I agree. The parent should know when it's time to go outside. It has to be a distraction for the priest as well.

I also sometimes struggle with distractions at mass. However, we must accept the noises of very small children because they are alive and they are at mass!! We must pray that distractions won’t get in the way of our worship instead of being critical of young families. I understand this is difficult, but it is just one more temptation that we sometimes have to battle with. We have lots of opportunities for silent prayer in our homes. The mass is a communal celebration.

Hello, Can someone please explain what is happening and how to solve my problem? The problem is I am having a very difficult time praying and fasting. I just can’t seem to get even a few minutes, either I fall alseep or my family duties call or I just stare at the wall but can’t pray.. I did the lent fast this year but now I just can’t.. I am so frustrated that I can’t pray😢… please help..

Not sure about your details but I myself fasted intensely during lent. After lent, I had a hard time maintaining it. What had helped me as of late is making small sacrifices. It's not always food either. No salt or pepper today (if you rely on those as I do) no phone or excess youtube videos (even if they're religious videos) my two regular meals but NO snacks after. Offer this up. Sometimes I go out of my way to adoration. I enjoy this but sometimes I'm super busy yet maybe I'll sacrifice some time for Adoration so I offer this up. My one day off from work, I may go to my grandparents farm to help out. Make these small offerings. Don't underestimate that. There's various fasts and sacrifices one can make. As for food fasting, try 1 meal on Fridays or do a bread water coffee fast. Maybe intermittent fasting(look it up). Play around with it. Maybe eat normal meals but less carbs. These small offerings please our Lord. Eventually you can add more to the effort. Lastly, what helped me was getting my prayer life in order. So for a time I didn't fast at all, didn't even try (I kept failing & becoming scrupulous) once I got my prayer life back on track, I could start these fasts. No I'm not going 40 plus hours zero calories like I did twice a week during lent. That's okay. Discouragement & confusion comes from the enemy. Live a sacramental life, try and receive our Lord daily if time allows. You may also consider praying & begging our Lord and Lady to grant special graces so you enjoy prayer more. Sorry for the long comment. This reminded me of myself after lent, I went through something similar

That's ridiculous. Many saints were removed from the sexular world. All prayer matters, regardless of ones physical location. We are wach called to a different vocation, as it were. Perhaps more need to be doing outreach. Preaching to the flock only is redundant. Idk whays are happening with ghese priests and our world as a whole, wanting to play the blame game, pointing fingers at others. Allow The Holy Spirit to work within you, listen, because many have been secluded receivong many spiritual otual rewards for doing so, also many habe been seen in the public for preaching and serving who also edify the body of the church; each part with its own calling, creating the nody of Christ. Pray. Fast. Pray the rosary. Shine so that all that light rubs off on this around you. Remember, as well, our comments are also our ministry.

@highstrangeness1824 I'm not sure what has you upset, but your clarification implies that he said the prayers of cloistered religious are not effective, but what he said is the opposite - without these prayers many will not receive the grace they could have.

Virtue signalling isn't "ministry". Please do not speak for the good priest or the nuns. You have no idea what their life, let alone their interior life, is like. He said at the very beginning that he was going to be very frank. In all likelihood this a but a portion of what I am assuming is a retreat for them. There are other lectures to which we are not privy. I am going to trust that this very seasoned and holy priest, whom I've listen to many times, knows what he's doing. It's their formation, we are simply listening in.

The parents do have respect - for the souls of the babies. If they were completely our of control, that would be different, but it's no more that gooing and gaaing. I praise God every time I see families with small kids coming to church - they are the future. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you, save souls.
