For the sake of historical truth of this song: The song was written by the silesian songwriter and youth leader Erich Scholz. There was never a Russian version of this song. It was a song for the German youth movement. The song is about the defeated West Russian Volunteer Army, which fought against the Soviets together with Freikorps (exactly Iron Division) in the Baltic States 1918-1919. The West Russian Volunteer Army consisted of released Russian prisoners of war and was set up by the German Empire before the end of the war.

Sadly, the White Army had a real chance of crushing the communists, the chance they never took. If only the White Russian generals had been willing to guarantee Poland her pre-partition borders [lands which Russia started taking in 18th century and which at that time were part of Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth). In the autumn 1919 between the Polish - Russian Border and Moscow there were only 30 650 of Soviet infantry soldiers, 900 cavalrymen and 83 cannons. The rest of the Soviet troops were fighting on four other fronts. At that time Poland could have easily sent against the Soviets 600 000 strong army. Poland had also an absolute dominance in artillery. Poland wanted one thing in return for helping to crush the communists - the borders as they were before Russians invaded in 1772. White Russian generals said 'No' thus rejecting the offer of help and the Polish troops never moved eastwards.
