Singer Cosplay Sewing Machine Review! Is it worth the hype?

The Singer cosplay machine feels awfully similar to their other heavy duty machines. What sets it apart, and does it live up to the $500 price tag? The important thing is that I curled my hair for this video. 💖

Ahh! I love musical theatere and I've got incredible respect for all of the costumers that spend so much time creating what we wear onstage :) I would love to see anything that has to do with costuming, it's so cool! Cant wait till see what you put up next :D

I bought this machine around the same time you did when it was on sale. I was new to sewing and did not know what all the extra bits and bobs were for. Thank you so much for this video. I have doing research on sewing leather and had no clue what some of the accessories were (I also kind of forgot it came with so many) so this saved me a lot of time and probably money too.

I have this machine as well- although Singer has discontinued it. One thing to look for as well is throat size - the amount of space between the needle and the side of the machine. Most machines usually have 3-5" - the larger ones have 8" - this one has 6.4" - which is a good medium size amount. The included accessories are also a plus - as the extension table alone costs about $50 - and a lot of the extra sewing machine feet and accessories can be quite expensive. but as with any new product- there is a learning curve - just refer to manual.

Two funny things about my experience with this machine is I saw it on display at New York Comic Con in 2019, to end up buying one when my Ingenuity malfunctioned during lockdown. This and my Izek (which uses the Gameboy to change stitches) are my main machines. As for the app, it does have an indexed view on stitches and presser feet, I found it to be buggy.

I prefer heavy duty sewing machines to light portable ones. There are times when jeans need to be hemmed and curtains need to be altered. Thanks for the sewing machine review. I'm pondering on getting one because my old machine is too temperamental.
@rolohooks

For sure. I feel like most heavy duty machines handle heavy and lightweight sewing projects equally well, so why not just invest in something that will do both! Hope you find a machine that suits you! 😘

I have owned this exact machine for a couple of months. My last very basic singer was 25 years old. I bought this bc of the table and all the extra feet. I'm 49 and have been sewing since I was 5, as my mom taught me to sew. I make curtains, bedding, everything except clothes to wear. I do make costumes but only for my kid who is now 25. I'm a life long crafter and I don't use patterns. I make stuff up as I go along. I too love this machine but also worry about all the plastic in it. My threader has not worked from the first time out of the box. I even took it back to the store and they said something was wrong with it. I'm anxious to see more of your videos. Anyone know what the PUSH lever is for? Good luck everyone staying safe during the quarantine.

oh man, i thought i was just a buffoon who couldn’t operate the threader. glad to know i’m not alone, ha ha! i love that you make costumes for your kid!!! some of my favorite memories of my mom are her making my halloween costumes and teaching me to sew. it’s such an awesome thing to share with your mom. i’m not sure about the push lever, but i’ll see if i can figure out what it’s for!!!

@@rolohooks Zoomed in on the Push Lever. The image appears to be a button hole. I checked the manual and it states One-Hole Button Hole Lever. Do not own this machine. Just a geek.

@@jobach5113 I'm so used to just free-handing buttonholes with the regular zig-zag stitch (lazy trick we use at the theater when we don't feel like switching out presser feet) that I forget that there are, like, really useful tools for making buttonholes look good. I seriously need to utilize the extras that came with this machine! Thanks for the tip!!! :)

My 100 year old Singer treadle machine has a drop in bobbin. I love the design and it still works. Singer is indicating the CP6350 has a better motor than 4432. Updated to the CP6350m after a 50 old Singer died and hoping the 2019 updated 4432 machine lasts as long.

Aw man, i LOVE the old singers. i learned to sew on a treadle singer years and years ago when i was taking lessons from a woman who collected vintage machines. something about kicking that pedal is just so relaxing. hope u get a lot of use out of your machines, man! thanks for the comment btw, i had forgotten that the old ones had a drop in bobbin. fascinating! 💖

Hope my sewing is better. Worked as extra /dancer Australian Opera @Sydney Opera House 1970s and osteopath rubbing singers backstage and visiting head costume man was a delight with so many costumes like Aida to maintain , but his eyes burnt through your soul if you had take back costume for minor repairs while he was busy.

Over a year later my machine has performed well every day strong and simple to use Threader is crap broke two months into use but still a good value machine Easy on heavy fabric . All torque moving parts are metal so it will deliver a punch.

It's as loud as any other machine i suppose! Helps to put a rubber mat underneath, but honestly, I've never noticed a sound problem. Also, my husband dropped the machine from about 3 feet in the air and even though the corner is dented, the darn thing still sews just fine. I'm pretty impressed!

Hello! What were your settings for straight stitch? I’m having some trouble with the top thread showing on the underside of the fabric.
@rolohooks
@rolohooks 4 жыл бұрын
They were pretty much whatever the machine came set with, and i usually sew between a 3 and a 4 length. I didn’t do any tension adjusting when I took the machine out of the box, so it’s strange that you’re having what sounds like a tension problem. Are you sure your bobbin is facing the right direction? That one still messes me up all the time...if flipping your bobbin around and re-threading the machine doesn’t work, you might need to adjust the tension. Here’s an article that explains it pretty well. Without seeing it in person it’s hard to diagnose, but good luck and please let me know what you figure out! 💖 www.threadsmagazine.com/2015/10/13/how-to-achieve-ideal-sewing-machine-thread-tension

So dumb question ik but for those who got this machine: Which do you prefer for making costumes? Or I guess which is the better one? I've seen this and the 4432 popping up more in my research too and noticed it's around $100 or so now. (Brother has been popping up a lot too (´-﹏-`;) ) I'm hoping to possibly make the St. Hermelin Uniform from P1 and eventually make other cosplays.
@rolohooks
@rolohooks 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think the 4432 is a fantastic deal, and as much as I enjoy the extras that came with the cosplay edition, I don't think they're a necessity, so I'd grab the 4432 whenever it's on sale. Brother makes decent machines, but I always go back to my Singer when I need to churn out a bunch of costumes, and even after literally dropping and denting it, it's still running just fine. Good luck with your cosplay!!! 🥰
