Dumpster find from Salvation Army. Have to rescue old technology and once again I'm at it. Will post once I'm sewing.

I inherited a vintage serger (Singer 14U64A). A note on the manual says it was purchased in 1988 an cost $499.99 plus tx. It's been in an open box in the garage for a couple years. I'm new to sergers. I watched this vid about your serger find an I'm hoping you'll update us on how you get it into good working condition... if you do... thanks!

Does your serger work? I bought the same machine/model and purchased it around the same time/cost. In 30 years, I have only had to have it serviced once (about 5 years ago) as I have always cleaned, oiled and replaced the lower blades when needed by myself. I loved it when I bought it and I still love it today. I bought an inexpensive Juki serger (MO-644D) to use as a backup when I was having the Singer serviced. In my opinion, the Singer is easier to thread than the Juki but maybe it's because I am used to the singer and haven't used the Juki much. Hope you are enjoying your serger.

I found my old machine in my cupboard that I purchased in 1991, no needles were in the machine but it works. Would you know what size needles I need. I tried all the needles I have and nothing fits in the holes. Thank you

@@queenpea1989 If it's a Singer like this one, standard domestic needles will not fit. search for Singer no. 2054 - Schmetz (and probably others) make one that conforms to that spec..
