Dimash was very sick for this performance. The night before he had lost his voice and had four shots directly on his throat, but was still not feeling 100% and was very worried. But you saw it and heard it, he didn't look it nor did you ever hear his voice crack. The audience was completely unaware of this situation but his fellow contestants were and some tried to help him with drops and stuff. He totally delivered and besides the pain from the song there was actual, physical pain in his throat. The song is about a cable car accident, full of tourists, that took place in China in 1999. 14 tourists lost their lives in this accident, among them were a child's parents. The child's father lifted him to safety by putting him on his shoulders. They don't really explain if he threw him out of the car before they fell or what, but the song describes how the child is watching his parents drift away into the darkness, hearing his mother telling him to be strong because he will be alone in a strange world, and at that moment he sees daybreak, I don't know if figuratively or actually. The song starts by saying that was the night I saw my father for the last time (thus the reaction in some faces) . It's a grippingly sad song. The song composer later adopted the child. He is now a teenager. Dimash has a very strong, bonding family relationship, and as he describes it, he heard this song when he was just 10 y/o and he was so shaken by it he was actually trembling. I guess he imagined what life would be without both his parents. He does sing from his heart and soul and makes you feel it too. I don't know how he does it, I can't understand a word he says , but the song actually makes me cry. You guys are amazing and I love your reactions to Dimash. Thank you so much.

Even the morning of the show, he still couldn't talk, and had to get a throat injection just to loosen up the muscles enough to get any sound out. Some of the other contestants tried to help with chinese herbs to ease his throat as well. He didn't want to let the fans down, so on stage he ignored the pain and kept smiling so the audience wouldn't know, and he forced his voice as much as he could in order to give a good performance. It wasn't until he was completely out of view of the audience in the back halls of the building that he dropped the smiles grabbing his throat in severe pain. He's a true professional, always giving his audience his best efforts. Even more daring, the song was written and performed by a previous winner of the competition, so you can imagine the pressure to do the song justice... but, being Dimash, he gave it a very heartfelt tribute in his performance. SONG BACKGROUND: In 1999, a cable car accident took the lives of 14 tourists in China. One couple lifted their son out of the falling cable car to safety. They didn't survive the accident. Han Hong wrote "Daybreak" to commemorate the couple's ultimate sacrifice for their child. She later adopted the orphan.

Hi guys ! Just a short comment to mention that Dimash had to learn this chinese popular song «phonetically» in only one week to be able to perform it in the competition. The song lyrics are in mandarin and as you know, it's a foreign langage to people of Kazakhstan since they usually speak russian (95% of the population) and kazakh (65%) in their country. I think it makes even more amazing to know it since Dimash slays the song. Bye

Dimash was sick on this tour, but in spite of this he held himself worthy!!! because he is the son of the Kazakh steppes !!!

He was really sick here, he had a sore throat and before the singing had few injections, he is really artist, even that moment he could continue and sang, it's too much dangerous, I'm very proud of him, he is best😢😟

One couple lifted their infant son to safety before they perished in the accident. The song is sung as if from their now grown son, expressing loss and sadness over the death of his parents. Of the 36 passengers in 14 unfortunate victims. In this tragedy, a young couple, with both hands raised their two-year-old son. The results of the son saved. But the young couple lost their lives.

Dimash had a sore throat for that particular week, and he can still sing like that. Amazing.

The song was written by Han Hong and the subject was about an accident involving 14 tourists and a cable car/tram. The parents of the young boy lifted him to safety and he was the only survivor of the incident. Han Hong wrote the song to commemorate the parents scarifice and would also later adopted the child.

This song, as I understand it...is about a mother and father who were with their son....and some awful event happened...like a storm or something....I obviously can’t remember the exact event....but the mother and father saved their son by raising him up (out of water I think) sacrificing their lives in the process!! The child/son WAS saved and then adopted by a lady Heng Ho..who then wrote this song....and there was a picture of her with that boy, her now adopted son. I want to tell a little about the song "Daybreak ", then you will be better understood by the emotions of the spectators and of Dimash himself. This is a very sad song, because it was written under the influence of real events. In 1999, in the southwest of China, there was a tragic case. The cable car broke off, there were people there.
