Single Pre-terminated Fiber Optical Cable and Mutiple IP Cameras

The pre-terminated fiber optical cable supplies fast speed with long-distance network. It is a little bit of waste to put the single camera through a fiber optical cable. The speed is 1000mbps. Single fiber optical cable can handle more than 50 IP cameras. In this video, you will see how to connect multiple IP cameras by using a single fiber optical cable. You do need outdoor POE switch at the edge to aggregate the IP cameras before it can be sent back to PoE NVR or switch. It is very similar setup as the single IP cameras. What you need is to change the media converter to outdoor PoE switch with SFP slot.

How do you know which SFP Port too use with a fibre optic modem .?

At the end of the video it looks like you have an outdoor antenna for connecting the 2nd, 3rd and more cameras. Is that how you are saying to connect More than 1 camera?

It is the outdoor PoE switch. Yes you do need outdoor PoE switch to aggregate the cameras together before it can send it back to NVR over single fiber optic cable.

@@Fastcabling sorry, but I’m still confused. With the outdoor poe switch you can add up to 8 cameras, right? So, how can I add more than 8? Do I need to connect a second outdoor poe switch to one output from the first switch? Like cascade?

Now that you've connect the switch to the NVR LAN port, how do i connect the NVR to the internet?

You can connect the NVR and the switch directly to the router.

@Fastcabling maaan. After all that hard work of laying conduit and running cables. My setup did not work. I used a single-mode fiber optic with Huawei SFP. I did not have a BiDi SFP so I'm awaiting that to arrive, hopefully, that is my problem. Everything else is okay, The POE switch powering 13 IP cameras, and all works.

The Huawei SFP only work with Huawei switch because it has proprietary codes. You might need the SFP transceiver with generic code.

It could be between 1 meter and 20km. Basically you don’t need to consider the distance issue with single mode fiber optic cable.

Regular fiber optic cables typically don't transfer power, but there's a cool solution - composite fiber cables! They can transmit both data and power over fiber.
