Rob Halford and Judas Priest have been around since the early 70's but they didn't explode internationally until 1980 with the "British Steele" album. They are one of the most influencial metal bands of their time, with some who consider them to be one of the greatest metal bands ever, myself included.

His range is from one end of the spectrum to the other. The most impressive aspect is his clarity at all points on his range. Black Sabbath invented heavy metal, with Painkiller Judas Priest perfected it. Nothing is more metal than this. Everything about it is flawless.

Painkiller - the song and the video, was new drummer Scott Travis's introduction to the Judas Priest fan arena. I saw this performed live (along with opening act Alice Cooper!) in July 1991, and when they did Painkiller, the drums, sounds, vocals AND lights were just as tight as in the video. Imagine a whole concert hall done in white strobes so bright it WAS brighter than a thousand suns!
