Agree with you, Joel. While this issue was great, it's just a remix of the Spidey who gobs a few arcs ago. Once again, Wells specialises in writing evil villains and antiheroes, that's where he excels at, like his Hellions series

It looks ugly because it’s meant to be temporary. It’s the same reason why the Blue, Gold and Silver suit that Peter wore during Nick Spencer’s run was ugly. They’re flashes in the pan.

@@assassinsknight you know very well that Editorial will never let that happen! They sort of did that in "End of the Spider-Verse" event, and even then it was a half-heartedly measure, as while the Spider-man part was erased, Peter himself still existed albeit never being Spider-man. And Spider-man is the NUMBER ONE seller book of Marvel, even MORE than X-men and Ultimate Spider-man combined!!

Spencer quit writing comics after his spider-man. He's been working in an office role at substack. Writing amazing spider-man legit seemed to kill his passion in comic writing.

I HATE evil hero stories. They are stupid, lazy, and there's never any consequences for their actions. "Oh, I was mind controlled." Therefore instant forgiveness and the hero themselves never seem to have any guilt over all the stuff they did either.
