I think I got wayyy too wide and square shoes. These are my first pointe shoes, so when people online said sinking i thought it was like your foot literally falls in the shoes. Anyways, i have tapered toes and I got a square box. The box is also quite soft, like if it's almost dead (I didn't use the shoe yet). I am not stable at all. My big toe is hitting the floor in the right shoe. I can put them on very easily. I think I will be able to return them since there is a good warranty at the place I got fitted. It was weird though, they modified the shoe there. I hope I'll be able to get a better fitting tapered box shoe. It makes me anxious :(.

This just happened to me. I was fitted in Gaynor Mindens. Box 4, which is square for wider feet. They also had me try the Bloch Heritage, which is for wide feet. To combat the sinking, they just added padding. When I tried the 3 box in Gaynors, they were too narrow. But actually, we tried them with the padding and that was probably why. I understand how they made the mistake. When my feet are bare and flat on the floor, they look square and wide. But they actually are medium width and highly compressible. They compress very narrow when in socks or tights or anything snug. When I got the Gaynors they felt ok at the fitting, but once they were home and sewn and I tried them on again, they were suddenly excruciatingly tight with all the padding, and I was still sinking. Especially on the right because it’s the narrower foot. I have Egyptian feet like you, so the big toe was being pushed into the bottom. I’ve remedied that by cutting a silicone spacer to fit in like a mini pad at the bottom of the box. But I’m worried that the sinking will still put too much pressure on my joints. And the padding is still causing a lot of pressure. Being flat is actually more uncomfortable than being en pointe. I think I should be refitted, but my current shoes won’t be returnable because I already sewed them and they are scuffed from testing them over and over with different padding combinations. I’m super frustrated. I just want to start pointe and not have any problems or get injured due to an ill-fitted shoe.

In my first pair, they were also too wide in the box, and I found that I would wiggle my foot back towards the heel after coming back to flat. Definitely sinking.

What can you do if your Pointe shoe is too small!! I got them last weekend and thought the felt ok...but just walking in them, my toes are scrunched up!! what should I do? wait it out until they die?? any advice?
