Lyrics Below:
It glittered and it gleamed
For the arriving beauty queen
A ring and a car
Now you're the prettiest by far
No party she'd not attend
No invitation she wouldn't send
Transfixed by the inner sound
Of your promise to be found
"Nothing or no one will ever
Make me let you down"
Kiss them for me, I may be delayed
Kiss them for me if I am delayed
It's divoon, oh it's serene
In the fountains pink champagne
Someone carving their devotion
In the heart-shaped pool of fame
"Nothing or no one will ever
Make me let you down"
Kiss them for me, I may be delayed
Kiss, kiss them for me, I may find myself delayed
On the road to New Orleans
A spray of stars hit the screen
As the tenth impact shimmered
The forbidden candles beamed
Kiss them for me, I may be delayed
Kiss them for me, I may find myself delayed
Kiss them for me, kiss them for me
Kiss them for me, I may find myself delayed
Kiss them for me, kiss them for me

Agreed, and the slightly oriental backing music is captivating. The only touble is I can't always hear exactly what Siouxsie is singing, the lyrics are a little muffled in places. Which is a shame as the lyrics- an ode to Jayne Mansfield - are very moving: _It glittered and it gleamed_ _For the arriving beauty queen_ _A ring and a car_ _Now you're the prettiest by far_ _No party she'd not attend_ _No invitation she wouldn't send_ _Transfixed by the inner sound_ _Of your promise to be found..._

Siouxsie And The Banshees - Kiss Them For Me (Official Music Video) 0429am 18.9.23 a what? i see she's still at it. which is cool, i suppose... an antidote to the kinder reich of nowadays trite musical formats, i suppose... all cruddy spliced samples and vile odes to whatever. this is more in keeping with the Cocteau Twins, though. so, i dunno how innovative this will be deemed... she seems to be stood onstage replete with guitars these days... anyhow, not much to say other than it seems like a magazine fuelled romp thru the ages these past few days...adios, old ham.

@@nepntzerZer A more mainstream sound doesn't automatically mean 'selling out'. That's a childish response. It's worse to make the same album over and over again. Artists want to move on and evolve, not go over the same ground. Staying true to yourself means doing what you want even if your old punk fans won't like it.

They have never been the darlings of the media, that's for sure and the masses ignore them, they do prefer other legacy bands, but the favorite artists of those masses love them. It's without any doubt better for posterity to be recognized by peers and artists: and on that point, the Banshees have got a very high profile

The part near the end of the song where she is really going for it 😯😯😯 I'm scared for her even 😣😦 I just expect her ankle to cockle she's amazing for that alone managing to terrify me without ever falling on the video forever 😌Loved her since the 80s 😊 she is the queen. She looked so effortlessly elegant here. This short visit to “normal“ pop music was great, it always makes me wonder what other course she (and they as a group) might have taken if they had embraced more poppy stuff before. Who knows - it might have been amazing. They might have taken the New Order route with their own distinctive spin. That said, what a great iconic band & singer, and we love them for what they are!

Siouxsie was never hidden behind 'frizzzzz'; she spikey hair, big fkn deal. She looked wonderful then, she looks wonderful now. She's her own person undaunted by years in a misogynist industry or puerile judgement of her & her music since she first lit up the scene.

I saw this iconic lady and her band live at Nottingham’s Rock City promoting their Superstition album in the early 1990s where this great song came from. Strange enough, I was watching a KZfaq documentary on actress Jayne Mansfield the other night, which this song is dedicated to. Such a tragic end to such a beautiful woman, who could’ve reached her acting potential had it not been the misogyny in the Hollywood movie business back then. She wasn’t a dumb blonde either, as Jayne was relatively well spoken and had a very high IQ of 163.
