Well, funny thing. I can't respect the people of today, the same way. At least in the same regard as those in the 80's. In the 80's we waited for a good bomb. It was time of the Cold War. It was a time to live life as if tomorrow was a surprise. It wasn't til recently that America found itself in a similar situation. It was a time and culture. The people during those times were absolutely original. And, so will it be in these times. But, the people of today don't understand joy in the same distinct way.

@@bogdiworksV2 I heard this song first growing up, so naturally I gravitated towards this version over Iggy's. I became a fan of Iggys later in my teens and when I heard the original it seemed so different but she kept some of the original vibes. Both are excellent imho.

I don't know. I don't think this was Iggy's best work. This was Commercial Iggy. Souixshe does it justice. Iggy and The Stooges was GREAT. As well as The Idiot. I'm a Fan of both Bands for different reasons. Dum-Dum Boys was really the song I always played the Loudest through slave amps. The Banshees remind me of West End 2 at Jones Beach LI from 1977-82. WLIR played a lot of their stuff.

I'm not an accomplished guitarist by any means, only played a couplea house parties with the band I was involved with b4 we split.... never was so driven to just "get in any band and play, then move up and get into a better band, keep going until you hook up with the right people and it just WORKS...." But.... although I've always thought a band doing a cover should do something not as well known rather than a "radio hit" as a cover for one of your last songs of your set.... even though So Many bands cover this tune.... I still would've been down for doing it as well. It's simply a great catchy cool tune.

In June 1986, I saw The Cure (3rd row), Siouxsie and the Banshees (6th row), and Depeche Mode (1st row!) play live in Houston, all within 10 days! I was only 14, but I was already working full-time, so I was able to buy the tickets. It was still a budget stretch, since I only made minimum wage, sweeping hair in a hair salon at the mall. Anyway, my friends and I took turns camping out to buy the tickets, so we could get the best seats possible. It was GLORIOUS. I still have my ticket stubs!

This is one of Sioux and The Banshees BEST covers. Their whole covers album "Through The Looking Glass" is brilliant. Such an eclectic assortment of songs. I'm quite conflicted on which I like more - this or Iggy Pop's original. Don't get me wrong, Iggy Pop's version is brilliant. But this just has the extravagant production value - with the horn section and all. The music video for this is brilliant, too. The Banshees will forever be one of my very favorites. Siouxsie is the queen! John Valentine Carruther's guitar is amazing on this cover - as is Budgie's drumming and Severin's bassline.

There's also a cover by Michael Hutchins from INXS which I also like.

Her version of "Trust in Me" takes the snake's song of predation and turns it into seduction.

First heard this song 19 years ago, doing 120 mph in the passenger seat of a 97 WS6 Firebird on some backroads overlooking Reno, Nevada. T-tops off, windows down, Monsoon sound cranked way up. Made a big fucking impression. Every time I play this song I'm taken back to that moment.

Not many covers are as good or even better than original like this one.

I love the relaxed mood of this video. I miss this time. A wonderful time of my life. I went to Siouxsie and The Banshees shows 30 years ago. Time went by so fast.

Yeah that’s what everybody says of that time period. I was born in the early 80s and I can say that the 90s - 00s - 10s went extremely slow, I think maybe the 80s with all the levels of subculture and excess and drugs would’ve flown past pretty quickly in comparison

If they ever make a movie out of Cormac McCarthy's _The Passenger_ this BETTER be the end-credits music.
