’آج کا لاہور اُسی ایک شخص کی ناقابل یقین کوششوں سے وجود میں آیا۔‘
یہ کہنا ہے اردو کے ممتاز ادیب مستنصر حسین تارڑ کا سر گنگا رام کے بارے میں۔ انھوں نے تو سر گنگا رام سے متعلق اپنی کتاب میں ’فادر آف لاہور‘ کے نام سے ایک تفصیلی باب بھی لکھا ہے۔ لاہور میں سر گنگا رام ہسپتال کے بارے میں تو آپ نے سنا ہی ہو گا۔۔۔ لیکن وہ کونسی معروف رہائشی سکیم ہے جس کی بنیاد بھی انھوں نے رکھی؟ سر گنگا رام کی کہانی پیش کررہی ہیں نصرت جہاں جسے تحریر کیا ہے عقیل عباس جعفری نے۔

Salute to Sir Ganga Ram for his services to Lahore and Faisalabad(Layalpur). It's our habit as a nation that we see everything in the religious perspective, other nations don't have this bias even Arabic or Turkish Muslims don't do this. We put religion in everything which is totally wrong. Most of our Punjabi Muslims ancestors were Hindus yet we deny this and try to link our selves with Arabs, Persian or Turks and try to prove that we're more Muslim than them. Proud to be a Punjabi Rajput.

This land we now call India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, not only shares history but sacrifices of our ancestors. We are the people of the subcontinent and it belongs to all of us, regardless of our faith. Hope the bitterness subsides and the glory of our collective history creates a bond, this world is yet to see. I know this sounds absolutely unbelievable but time has the power to heal everything. But narrow minded people like you made it that way. Allah clearly said in Quran that I am the only one who can judge people. But every muslim has become a judge these days. It means that you are Challenging your own GOD. Sir Ganga Ram was a good person. Allah will judge him according to his own deeds. We are no one to say one shouldnt pray for them after their death if they were not Muslim. Remember the Prophet Muhammad was a well wisher for whole humanity . He used to pray for Non Muslims too.

That was what partition was all about. It is quite clear that Hindus and Mussalmans derive their inspiration from different sources of history. They have different epics, their heroes are different and different episode[s]. Very often the hero of one is a foe of the other, and likewise their victories and defeats overlap. To yoke together two such nations under a single state, one as a numerical minority and the other as a majority, must lead to growing discontent, and final. destruction of any fabric that may be so built up for the government of such a state.

Sir Ganga Ram is a legend. Honestly I don’t have words to explain how great he is. I salute you Sir. This is the lesson we must learn that judging a person from the perspective of religion is not at all right. We have to coexist in this world with each other in harmony and peace rather than implementing our way of life on others. It doesn’t matter which religion a person is following. The thing which matters the most is how that person has contributed to the society. We need more Ganga Rams in Pakistan so that we start to thrive again.

Sir ganga ram hospital one of the best hospital in lahore, my wife recently went for spleen treatment and come out after full recovery but with free of cost, a big relief for me. I shall remain obliged for this hospital

@ you are partially correct as arab conquered sind the entrance of india they mispronounced Sindu as hindu - people of sind River who used to follow mostly Hinduism. So arab n Afghani(muslims) called it hindustan in english britishers called sindu as indus so they call it India the land of Indians. Before that it was called bharata included many kingdoms . So bharat, hindustan , India language words alag hai mtlb same hai as partition me india se pakistan nikala hau isliye naya naamkaran karne ki load nhi padi yaha. So don't play with the words he was an indian who lived in the region later became part of newly constructed pakistan that's it & you can claim if u are lahoria 😬. Baki business wagehra ke liye aaj bhi log idher se udher settle hote rehte hi hai. Partition se pehle ke badne to common hi the british india ke part the isme ladne ki kya mtlb hai?

Hats off to Sir Ganga Ram for his outstanding social services. Sir Ganga Ram made a Power House at Malhian Wala( Renala Khurd District Okara) at the famous Lower Bari Doab Canal. At that time this Power House provide Electricity to the whole town of Renala Khurd. So sad that after the dispute of Babri Masjid the name of this Power House was changed as Zaheer-UD-Din Babar Power House. The inauguration plate bearing the name of Sir Ganga Ram is still fixed in wall of Power House but in broken condition. During the course of my Government Service I have seen this Power house when I was posted there.

During my stay of two years at Lahore from 1973 to 1975 while serving for Pakistan Railways, I got introduced to name of Sir Ganga Ram through the hospital bearing his name on entrance gate. Today when I look back at his life story, Sir Ganga Ram looms much much larger than Laborites give him credit for. He was truly essence of compassion and service to humanity. I will call him one of the symbol of selfless humanity who lived for others. His memory deserves more recognition than people of Lahore has ever given him. Sir Gaga Ram should be celebrated for his services every year to inspire the youth and coming generation to build on the work that Sir Ganga Ram could not finish. Humanity stands above all religions.

Similarly, the city of Rawalpindi was named after legendary Rajput Hindu king Bappa Rawal who defeated Arabs. Islamabad was a city bulilt upon a town known as Ramkund. It was named Ramkund because Lord Ram had once visited that area and had bath there. A thousands of years old temple is still present there!!!
