Sir Nigel Gresley In 8K ! A4 60007 Departs Kingswear

While on a short break away in Devon, I test out my new Samsung S23 smart phone camera which can now record in 8K 4320P. The test subject would be no other than A4 Class 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' and its seen departing Kingswear on the English Riviera Express on the 24/06/23. The power of the video cameras on smart phones is now so advanced that the average consumer camcorder could become extinct pretty soon. The only thing that smart phones cant do is quality sound recordings. Anyway I hope you enjoy this snippet and if you're lucky to own an 8K device let us know what you think, it also looks superb in 4K quality !
We're currently itching to get back to some proper filming but with the majority of the country still under an amber fire risk, due to the prolonged dry and warm June, diesel assistance is required in abundance which does not appeal to us. The forecast does suggest a change to lower pressure so Hope to bring you some new footage ASAP.

Great quality, but i think YT may have a problem storing all the storage required, also only available in 4K of YT and mobiles make the sky stand out unlike camcorders, but hey its always sunnier down south than up here in the north west Liam and Phil, cheers , Stephen .

Stephen, you'll need an 8K phone display or an 8K ready TV or an 8K laptop/ pc monitor. I have neither lol

Fire risks are a problem, but don't be down. The weather has been cool enough for steam engines to run on preserved railways. Little Miss J94 has performed well on the Llangollen Railway, and 7754 the Pannier Tank Engine looks set to be back in traffic properly on 1st and 2nd July this year.

The other problem with cell phones is the inability to do optical zoom, and a smooth zoom. However, the quality looks great and if you had something to rest your arm on, it probably would have been difficult to tell that it was phone recorded.

Can anyone explain to me why so many videos on KZfaq show A4s with a deisel loco at the back of their carriages? Another video seemed to show the A4 not pulling at all.

4k max for me. 8K still a bit pricey and very little people shoot footage at that resolution

Not sure about 8k Liam as I’ve always said if it looks too sharp then it’s wrong as our eyes aren’t 8k or otherwise 🤔

Steve, I agree to a certain degree. Anyway an 8K tv is currently out of reach due to the prices. I was watching some downscaled 16K footage and whilst it was mind blowing, I did wonder weather my eyes could process the full detail.
