The one thing that can bring light for Mikey is knowing that Dale knew he won. The last thing he saw on this earth was his two cars driven by his friend and son heading to the line with open track ahead.

Michael did get to celebrate winning the way he wanted to in 2003 when he won his 2nd 500. Part of me thinks Dale told the Lord that day "let it rain down there, so Ole Mikey can enjoy it this time!"

He actually got to celebrate that same year in 2001 when Dale Jr. won the Pespsi 400 at Daytona that same year Michael said he felt a weight lifted and felt like he could celebrate his Daytona 500 victory as well as they finished 1,2

@@johncase8534 he has said many times that that was the most healing moment for him during that time. Even though winning the 2003 Daytona 500 he celebrated with his team, the conclusion of the 2001 Daytona 500 resonates with him forever.

I can not even imagine how that felt after that race. First the the high of winning the 500 and your first race to your whole world crashing down a few minutes later man how rough.

Not only the high of winning the 500, but to have your big brother openly cheering your win on national TV.

How does Michael handle those emotions for the rest of his life? He said it best he wanted to hug Dale besides getting the money and the trophy

All that adrenaline and excitement for ihis first win that Sr helped make happen by blocking versus trying to get a run. I was there and it was amazing. I know Mikey has had issues since but Mikey, if you read this...keep your chin up. Senior would have been proud of your consistent seasons and your other wins and also proud of you for helping Jr win the Pepsi 400 in 2001. So you can be proud of yourself. I hear and read lots of negatives about you but I tell you something, as a NASCAR fan since 88' you remind me of Benny P, you are funny but coordinated. Go #15 go #3 and go #4!

I wish Earnhardt had let Sterling Marlin pass and challenge the #15 and #8 car for the win!! Sterling had a faster car and Earnhardt hated when other drivers did that to him!!

Yep, that would've been a real turn of events for Nascar. Dale would most likely still be here, and the sport would've continued on as it had been. Instead, it was the moment it started a massive decline.
