there are actually a few stratagems with hard caps on how many times you can use them per mission, such as the patriot exosuit and the orbital laser stratagems, with the mech being 2 maximum uses per player per mission, and the orbital laser having 3 maximum uses per player per mission. this is to keep players from just chucking an orbital laser at every single objective they find, especially in automaton worlds. that said if every player in the team dives in with an orbital laser stratagem each this means that they have 12 total uses of stratagems in total (3 each), same with the mech if everyone dives with it then they have 8 total uses. also the only "pay to win" element this game has is the deluxe edition (which can also be purchased separately of the base game) that adds a fancy armor with identical stats as two different armor sets in the free battlepass, a "super citizen" title, and the stratagem hero arcade game becomes available to use for yourself and anyone on your ship. and honestly i'd spend money just to get that minigame, its worth it and the devs deserve it.

There's so many people playing the game that a single planet in the Terminid front incurred like 10 million deaths in a single liberation campaign. The reason a lot of other Live Service games feel so lackluster and shallow is because their games that have the entire Live Service aspect feel tacked on with a bunch of aspects that constantly remind you that it's a storefront with a game attached. Helldivers 2 leans in to the Service aspect by disguising events and announcements as incoming orders from high command. There's no "as a community, get X amount of kills". It's always "Super Earth needs YOU to kill X amount of enemies in the name of Managed Democracy". *AND IT ALSO DOESN'T SHOVE ITS ITEM STORE INTO YOUR FACE EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU LAUNCH THE FUCKING GAME, THAT CANNOT BE UNDERSTATED ENOUGH HOW REFRESHING IT FEELS TO NOT BE CONSTANTLY ADVERTISED TO*

And the devs did all this on an engine that was abandoned in 2018. The game was in development for so long that in 2018 Autodesk stopped supporting the Stingray engine (which was the old Bitsquid engine). Ridiculous how hard these devs worked on this game and how hard they are still working on it.

My best moment so far was my second level 8 mission, a bot sabotage mission when I was new to the game. The last objective was to sabotage the dropships and I was the last one left, getting chased by a massive horde of walkers and rocket devastators. I managed to get close enough I just threw a 380 and by democracy it had actually got the objective done. It was tooth and nail getting to the evac where I had innumerable close calls with rockets that would one tap me. I managed to get to the ship call zone with the samples we could retrieve and by then I was able to call in another person but they immediately died upon contact with a rocket devastator so it was back to me in a final stand to evac and I had managed to but BARELY.

I've heard that the game runs surprisingly well on even absolute potato PCs, perhaps helped by it leaning more on your CPU than GPU especially on low settings.

Fun thing to do with few friends is to run a helldive difficulty eradicate mission with everyone running 380 & 120 barrages, walking barrage and one other high yield device resulting in the objective becoming less kill the enemy and more of a game of artillery dodgeball

Not to mention Purple Samples being locked to Difficulty 7+ means you have to grind extremely hard to get some of the utilities like being able to steer your pod correctly (sometimes the game just steers me into a pit or a teammate and I can do almost nothing to stop the forced guidance system) Hell, some basic utilities are completely locked out (Why is it my corpse cannot drop ammo, stims, or grenades? I didn't change my gun, so I should be able to get ammo from my fully supplied corpse. Also, why is Hellpod Space Optimization a Boost instead of the Default Setting)

I got the Super Citizen Pack upgrade when I first bought the game, and I've twice paid for Super Credits. Reason? Well... the Upgrade pack purchase at the start was because of the fun I could see others having on YT vids... It was enough for me to pay out the extra at the start. After getting to lvl 5 or so, well, game had me hooked and I wanted to get some extra scratch as well as give the devs some more money to work with. This game rocks, and I'm happy as a pig in mud to PAY someone for a job well done.

I don’t know, some effects like the ground on fire is very cheap looking (most games don’t know how to make pretty fire effects still in 2024 😂) and the explosions like the 500 Kg or Hellbomb… No volumetric particles or anything, it looks really bad actually. And that can make the game crash by the way. On a technical level, so many things could be improved about this game.

I’ve never played shooters before but this game looked through gameplay to be amazing. And i picked it up about a week after release, over 30 hrs in I don’t see myself putting it down any time soon. The only reason I don’t have more hours is because I had to take my computer in to get fixed, it was damn automaton counter attack If going from never played a shooter to playing nearly everyday doesn’t sell you on this game, idk what will

Despite the Helldivers being expendable, as long as one guy is at the evac site Pelican-1 will go through hell to pick you up. Even if you take too long to complete the mission and fail it.

They just have to undo the nerfs on most stratagems and add more content and bug fixes and this game will be a strong contender for GOTY. Idk why they tried neutering the game their devs started crying it was fine at launch

I’m very glad laser sights are on all standard primary weapons. It allows players to avoid running infront of their teammates who might be firing in their direction.

I am a professional charger surfer. Used my jump pack to jump on it's back to snipe other bugs was a crazy fun experience.

The very first game I played I was the last man standing at the evac point, and I got hit by a stray rocket coming from the very same ship sent to evacuate us. 10/10

There was a really good armor set in the premium shop I wanted. I bought the armor with the premium currency u had banked, earned some with the battle pass and made up the difference in line 2 missions. I've gotten three equivalent of like 30 bucks of premium currency since launch without having to spend a dime beyond the price of the game. The fact that i don't feel pressure to getv premium currency makes me want to get it more.

If you join friends you can be sent to whatever difficulty they had. Thus, my level 3 ass was dropped into a Helldive “Kill everything”. I didn’t do that bad actually

This game is just beautiful. As a fan of the first game, and also as someone who's gotten the platinum trophy 3 weeks after launch, I cannot endorse this game enough!
