C&O Canal Towpath is gorgeous, cannot believe you didn't include it?
@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes Ай бұрын
This wasn’t intended to be the only 6 to consider - but the beginning of a series of “bucket list” trail videos. We haven't had a chance to ride the entire C&O Canal yet, so once we do that it will likely end up on another one of these "bucket list" videos. Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching.

Could you recommend a resource for finding trails like these and/or local ones? I'm starting to get into biking and would like to have a way to find trails to ride. Thank you for the videos. I found your channel looking info up on Schuylkill River Trail and found your video. That trail is my first one I plan to ride and I saw you have a video about the valley forge portion and the perkiomen trail too. very exciting stuff.

My #1 go-to resource is TrailLink. There is a free version, and a paid version. I believe the basic difference is that the paid version will give you GPS driving directions to trailheads. It's only $20/year and is a great resource. I am probably on TrailLink daily looking for some information on trails in an area we want to go to, or reading about a trail I'm making a video on. Here's the link: www.traillink.com/. Thanks for watching.

Great review! Keep on peddling. Our 2 favorites so far are the Huckleberry Trail in V A and the Silver Comet in GA!

Great video. Those trails look amazing. My favorite trail that I have ridden is the Manitowish Waters Bike Trail in Northern Wisconsin. It has beautiful scenery in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest.

Thanks for sharing your favorite trail. I've put it on my list for future rides. There are a number of other trails that connect on either end to the Manitowish Waters Bike Trail. Have you ridden them? Thanks for watching.

@@Adventuresonebikes Yes, I have been going up there for biking vacations since 2020. It is awesome up there. Most of the trails are great, the Manitowish Waters trail and the Crystal Lake trails are my favorite, but I will not ride the whole Mercer trail again. The beginning of that trail right next to MW trail is beautiful going through the woods and over a bridge and crossing over Co. Hwy 51, but after that as you head west it gets very boring. They have you riding on a few access roads and when you get to Mercer there is nothing fancy about it. You are better off staying on the MW and Cl trails. I hope you get a chance to ride these trails, they are amazing. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. I know the area pretty well now.

How do you handle these long trails? Only in sections or do you have two cars and park one on the other end? Just curious. I'd love to take on the Rio Grande trail but 84 miles in one day seems a bit much. I suppose I could park or stay half-way and only do the half-way to Aspen one day and then half-way to Glenwood Springs the next day.

The trail is 42 miles long as you know, so yes it's a long ride in a day if you had to go up and back. We usually ride a trail in sections -- so there are many times we can't actually ride the entire trail -- but we try to get enough to give viewers an idea of what to expect. On the Rio Grande Trail I know I read that the bus will take you and your bike from one end to the other, but not ebikes. So you could ride one way and take the bus back if you were riding a regular bike. Sometimes we've done what you mentioned -- park/stay in the middle and go one way one day up and back, other direction the next. I think that's how we'll do the Greenbrier Trail whenever we can fit that in. We did hire someone on the Elroy Sparta Trail in Wisconsin who took us to the end of the trail in our car and then went and parked it where we would end up. We would love to find that type of service more (because ebikes need a special carrier), and I can't find a lot of services that do that when I search for many of these trails. I know there are also trains that allow bikes, but we haven't had the chance to see if they would handle ebikes (the Katy Trail comes to mind). Great question. Thanks for watching.

@@Adventuresonebikes Yeah, I think longer trails are hard to do. At least there are several towns that someone could stay in along the way. Even so, it is hard to coordinate with a family as much e-bike carriers only support 2 bikes, so we are looking at multiple cars. Or, the expense of renting.

Love this list, but how is the Erie Canal not listed?

This wasn’t intended to be the only 6 to consider - but the beginning of a series of “bucket list” trail videos. I agree everyone that can should spend some time on the Erie Canal trail - if only to absorb all of the engineering feats and history! We live 10 miles from it and until I started making the bike videos I didn’t completely understand the significance of it. Thanks for your support of our channel.
