The forest in Connecticut are really beautiful and some of the trails are quite remote. You Don't see anybody on them for quite some time. Few hours at a time. The airline trail starting at the Rhode Island border is my favorite rail to trail in Connecticut, though.It's a bit rough at that end of the trail. The state has heavily invested in tunnels and bridges to complete the trail.

After going thu the tunnel at the state line toward Montana, (in a company truck was fun). Once you go tru it to on the Montana side, there is a tight curve with a campground. Being tight, lots of cars de-railed over the years. Look on the outside of the curve. Some ore nuggets may still be some there.

When it was first being built around 2001, I was working on the Touch America fiber line and renting a room in an old motel in Smelterville Idaho. They were just starting it. I would ride up toward Walace and chost back down. Fee??? When I rode it, it was being built. Harrison Bridge was far off at that time. Trains (bike path) carried silver/lead ore from the mines for smelting (Smelterville) Idaho, all containing high amounts of heavy metals. I used to pick up chunks of silver/lead ore from old train wrecks. Could only go about 2mi past Smelterville, rest was under construction.

Since I literally live 1 block from the trail. This is a place that my family has been ridding for 50 years. It never gets boring and always has some new and interesting things to see. My kids and myself had been swimming the Canal more times than I can remember. One summer as we were riding, in the distance was the wake coming off something moving in the Canal. We all stopped to get a good look. It was a giant turtle. At least 3 feet long and almost as wide. WOW! True that, be careful were you swim,lol.

On the ebike issue: wouldn't it be easier to just enforce the 20mph instead of limiting acces to ebikers with faster bikes. I can easily keep mine at 20mph on "assist 1 mode".

That seems like it makes sense, but a lot of these rules that are in force or under discussion seem to be more out of fear rather than rational review of the facts and stats. I think the reality is that none of this can really be enforced because that would require dedicating resources on the trails to police bikers. Thanks for watching.

Did this a few years back, ten or so, and this is definitely a much improved version of the trail. I wonder how the parking is now in Burlington and where is the best place to park. About the causeway, don't know how it felt for you, especially being on e-bikes, but something to keep in mind, you may have to fight serious headwind. When I did it, I was flying toward the bike ferry with the wind behind me. On the way back, it was a struggle. That said, if you are adventurous, after the little ferry you get on the paved road and take one of the first left turns, look on the map. That takes you to a bigger ferry that takes you to the other shore of the lake. You can bike you way back to another big ferry that takes you across the lake to Burlington. Speaking of which, you must spend a couple of evenings late into the night on Church Street. Close to traffic, they have fantastic food and entertainers all over it. Also look for Champ, the "great snake" of the Champlain Lake.

This is now part of the Empire State Trail, about 750 miles. You can start about 7 miles west of the bridge, in New Paltz, go over the bridge, 1.5 miles, and do another 7 miles or so to where the trail used to end, an old train station that is now a shop, which is most of what our friends here have done on the east side of Hudson . That was what I did it when I did it some years ago. From New Paltz to the bridge is mostly down, so it is going to be mostly up on your way back from the bridge to New Paltz.

Please give information on the brim on your helmet. Also does it attach to any helmet?
@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes 9 күн бұрын
The brim is from Da Brim. I believe it should attach to any normal bike helmet. It basically just pushes on. It looks like there are buckles that hook on, but they must be just for decoration because they don't hook to the helmet. It wasn't cheap, but it is of good quality and I received it quickly. Only thing is that if you are riding in a strong wind, you may want to tighten your helmet chin strap if it's a little loose, because the brim gives you a little of the "Flying Nun" effect! Here's a link to their website: dabrim.com/collections/cycling-products. Thanks for watching.

We didn't take the RV because we were only gone two days. We wanted to stay along the trail, and I've included several places I found in my research in the video description. We ultimately stayed in the Penn Wells Lodge in Wellsboro because it just seemed easier to book -- it was only a few miles from where we started on our first day and was a town of some size (compared to the rest of the area), so we thought we'd have more meal options. We ate dinner at an Italian Restaurant within walking distance of the hotel -- the meal was just OK. The river is Pine Creek. This is a very isolated trail, so I would suggest you Google it for more information as there are several sources. Here is one that might be helpful: susquehannagreenway.org/land-trails/pine-creek-rail-trail/. There were only a couple of towns along the route. In Blackwell there was a small store. Cedar Run is the center of the trail. In Cedar Run we ate at the general store. The hotel across the street in Cedar Run only serves dinner. In Waterville we ate at the Waterville Hotel -- I mentioned in the video that you could stay overnight, but there is a 2-night minimum. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and we hope you have a great trip.

Maybrook is great, two very nice lakes, three great swamps, not many pedestrians, very few surface street crossings, several boardwalks, and some great estates back up to the trail. Also, it come very close to the Putnam Line, which runs all the way down to NYC. There is not much industrialized areas, and in the summer, you have to look through the vegetation to see points of interests, but after a good rain, the streams and culverts are singing and you can see how they carve through the hillsides, naturally, as well as with sculpted manmade gullies.

Most of the trails are great, the Manitowish Waters trail and the Crystal Lake trails are my favorite, but I will not ride the whole Mercer trail again. The beginning of that trail right next to MW trail is beautiful going through the woods and over a bridge and crossing over Co. Hwy 51, but after that as you head west it gets very boring. They have you riding on a few access roads and when you get to Mercer there is nothing fancy about it. You are better off staying on the MW and Cl trails.
