I love how this is turning out. I wad stuck on the beginning but your bravery to keep going took it to another place. I find it happening to my work to when I let go and go bold to see what needs to be done and get surprises I never would've gotten. Love that I got to watch this in replay - ended up having to watch it in 2 parts which was a good thing because I REALLY needed some time to process the "drama" LOL!!! Loved the progress on the piece and applaud you for stepping out of the gold comfort zone. Appreciate you sharing the products you use - Nova appears to be making quite a name for itself amongst those I follow and I was especially intrigued by getting the gloss medium in a gallon size! The microphone worked well, the phone is delivering amazing video quality, and I completely understand the lighting situation as I have one to use in the evenings (when I'm doing most of my work) - it does feel conspicuous though when I think about what a passerby might think. Fingers crossed for the big canvas / one artist show in 2023!

I do like how it turned out, but I am mesmerized by this work at the point before any collage was added. Like, I would totally hang that on my wall, framed! I don't usually choose to hang abstracts, but once in a while one grabs me... like this has. I can't figure out why. And mine look nothing like the ones i do like, and I am about ready to give up on the ugly abstracts I make, and go on (or back) to other styles. I'll just have to settle for appreciating work like yours. 😋

Do you add any medium to your paints? I have Nova paints but when I use them right out of the jar they don't go as far as yours seem to, and I definitely can't 'scratch through' them. Thanks.

What is the 2nd color that you use that’s after black, please?

Pls do a vlog about painting a large abstract. Sketch book videos are good but a dime a dozen because there are many artists doing the same type of stuff. You could paint that work in parts or stages as you revisit the piece to improve it until it's done. Sharing your thoughts and processes about a large work I'd find more interesting and informative than these collage sketches, frankly.

Jackie can I recommend you add a trigger warning for suicide to this video? For those who have been close to suicide it can be shocking and very hard for the subject to suddenly be brought up without warning. Ideally I would edit the sound out when your children are asking about your friend. If that’s not possible at least add a trigger warning.
