Full day of skiing at Big Sky Resort in Montana. Started off the day on the Challenger lift then made our way to the six shooter and lone tree lifts. Oh and we skied our first triple black diamond Obsidian off the Lone Tree chair! Another awesome day at Big Sky!

Big Sky is a great mountain. Nice overall tour! Hit many of the same areas your group hit. We had some thin cover (couple years ago) but got a foot of snow the day we got there which frankly saved the trip for much of the mountain (high up they probably got 20" in some bowls). Would def go back...a lot of that hike to terrain there is insane and outside of my zone! Hit same run you showed off Lone Tree...and further traversed out into the bowl. Snow was great.

Thanks! Cover was pretty thin in spots when we were there as well but we had some snow pretty much every day to help refresh the mountain. Nice that's awesome, sounds like you had a great trip!

The guage of the hills difficulty rating should always be questioned at the bottom. Most maps, or mountain information pages will tell you the percentage of black diamonds compared to others. Like, okay... Red mointain up in BC has blue squares more difficult than a diamond on other mountains. The double blacks on granite/red mointain consist of 12-25foot cliff drops, chutes, pit runs, the works. Big white has a doublr black called "the cliff" and its literally a 5 foot ice ledge down to easy to navigate open hill leading right down to the chairlift of said cliff run. Meanwhile, in a blue run on the same mountain, there is a "flintstones rock drop" with a square boulder with a nice 15 foot drop that blows the "cliff" out of the water. Always ask if you like extremes because one mountains "easy" may be another mountains "double black".

Very true. No run is the same. The rating is a general guideline.

Not sure why so many people in the comments are hating, the video was fine -- though not my music style. At the end of the day trail gradings are just there to give the person an average/estimate of how hard it will be. If it is a "triple black" all they are saying is it isn't really your normal double black

@@ryan39584 triple black is… its the same as a “extreme class” and considered very dangerous a lot of places rate it different, it could be a double black with a E X, etc. Although this park seemed to exaggerate this looks like a double or single (Advanced/expert class) triple black usually is super powdery and excluded same with some doubles. Heres how parks rate them depending on where you live they can be different(im assuming you know most of these) Green circle- beginner Blue square- intermediate Double blue square - between intermediate and advanced Red circle or square- same as double blue Blue square with black diamond on top- same as double blue Black diamond- advanced Double black- expert Triple black, double black with EX- extreme/dangerous I believe triple black some places may not exist(same with double) and can be rated differently with warning signs and shit, it really depends on what park and what country at that point.

@@KirbyRL this video isn't in Europe, you can make whatever argument you want but in North America there is no such thing as a triple black. Double black diamond is the most extreme in resort run, after that is back country which no longer is within a resort and has no classification.

@@ryan39584the black hole vermont? Either way you said it didnt exist as if you meant in general. Big sky this resort hes at has one. It was added maybe 4 years ago at big sky? They do exist just extremely uncommon or just rated differently in other resorts. Triple blacks arent open 24/7 and usually seasonally open around January to march.
